    C 8.25 $350

Oh, I get it, Lincon locker meaning a locker made by a Lincoln welder? No thanks. I have a Lockrite locked D35 with 3.55 right now. I like the idea of the 8.25 and the 4.56, but I'm not willing to go spool or open diff so I'm out. Thanks for taking the time to inform a NOOb and good luck...

    C 8.25 $350

Hmmm... I'm pretty sure I want this. There isn't any reason I couldn't have spring perches welded back on it, is there? And sorry for the ignorance, but what's a Lincoln locker? Similar to the Powertrax style locker or......... what? Thanks!

    XJ Sliders

I'll try. Although it's a bit like closing the barn door after the horses have already got out. I'm covering and protected dented rockers. Oh well. First I have to install them...... so I have a dumb question to ask. One end is caped off square, while the other has an angle. I assume the...

class III factory hitch $40 Tucson

My Jeep came with the factory tow package but I recently installed an aftermarket rear bumper so the hitch has to go. Here's the craigslist ad. Feel free to call me. http://tucson.craigslist.org/pts/1621167483.html

I bought a bumper from a forum member that has an integrated hitch, so I now have my Jeep's factory hitch to sell. $40. He's the craigslist ad. http://tucson.craigslist.org/pts/1621167483.html

    Speedbump in Mexico

Hey, maybe the crank position sensor is my problem too. How did you know that was it? Did you get a check engine light?

    Expanded metal hood?

All louvers are designed to help keep the rain out. Sure, some angled rain or water running down the hood could enter, but they block normal downward rainfall. That's why they are louvers and not just slots or holes in the hood.

    Expanded metal hood?

You have a bit of a point there. Still just seems like a lot of work for something that doesn't keep the rain out.

    Expanded metal hood?

I think cars and trucks have hoods to keep the rain off, to look not retarded, and for aerodynamic effieciency. IMO, this ideas fails at all three reasons. I don't think the purpose of a hood is to block heavy things from impacting your engine and causing damage. How often does that happen?

    What was GM thinking.......

Might be a Northstar, but I'm 90% sure the LT5 from the C4 ZR-1 Corvette also has the starter in the valley. LS series engines, on the other hand, are very easy to work on.

    Mechanical trivia

Yup. My '88 Bronco II had a Dana 35 in the front. I put a locker in that D35. Count me as three. I've changed them twice in my '96 XJ and none broke. Then again, mine has always lived here in the desert and has no rust or corrosion anywhere.

    Need expert AW4 help.

Well, it seems to be fixed. It's been shifting flawlessly for a couple days now. I thought I'd post what I did to fix it as it might help somebody else searching in the future. First, I cut the black ground wire that runs to the D7 pin on the transmission side of the connector by the...

Air Intake and Flow Modification Poll

Why would anybody care about intake airflow or tiny increases in power in a XJ? Are you racing? How does 10 peak hp at redline help you? The only reasons to change the stock intake would be for a snorkle to stop hydrolocking. My XJ has a K&N panel filter in it because it was in there when I...

    Still have this issue...

Well gee, I think we may be onto something here. :lecture: How is the axel going to resist wrapping if it has round spring perches?

Air Condition blowing from vents just like the defogger should

Remove it. With your mouth, try to suck air through it from both directions. You should be able to do so one way but not the other. If you can both ways, it's broken. Install the side you can suck through towards the engine. Ignore the engine running "easier." It's just idling higher...

    Need expert AW4 help.

I found a couple wiring diagrams on Pirate4x4 and they both show the D7 black wire just going directly to ground. That's great. It looks like I could simply connect that wire to a known good ground and my problem might be solved. I just have to wonder, why would the manufacture run the ground...
