    Heavy Snowplow... Air Shocks?

ZJ springs? I have the upcountry springs now and they add 2" allready. How hard are timbrens to install? I have the fabrication skills, i just hate to cut my cherokee body up and not be able to go back to stock. I wouldnt have a problem doing stuff to the axle because i always could get...

    Heavy Snowplow... Air Shocks?

yea, i would really love to have air suspension up front, that would eliminate all of my problems. what heavier springs could i put in there? same height but just bigger wire? i want to say it is a .590" wire now, but i could be wrong. I know they make air shocks for the rear, but nothing for...

    Heavy Snowplow... Air Shocks?

I have a 2000 XJ and i installed brand new factory Upcountry Coils (bigger wire diameter) which gave me the 2" lift. a couple years later i found a snowplow at the junk yard, rebuilt everything and it works like a charm. i thought with the heavier coils, it would help with the weight and it has...

    YJ steering in an XJ?

The actual tie rod tube hits the bolt. The YJ i took the steering off of had a track bar on it. I didnt think they did have them because of the leaf front suspension, but it had one and looked factory. I should do a parts search and see if i can find a track bar for a YJ just for kicks. I...

    YJ steering in an XJ?

I have heavy duty coils in the front. I believe the springs are similiar to the up country springs. My dad's friend owns a spring shop and i told him i wanted heavier duty suspension, so he ordered new leafs and coils. The coils are bigger diameter wire than stock and it raised my suspension up...

    YJ steering in an XJ?

I started assembling the YJ steering last night and found that there is not enough clearance between the tie rod and track bar bolt.....When the wheels are turned all the way to the right, the tie rod hits the bolt that connects the track bar to the axle. I'll try to post a picture of this soon...

    YJ steering in an XJ?

RPC, is the bracket that you made for a XJ with cross over steering? If so what steering shock did you use? It looks like it has a stud mount on one end instead of the hole like stock XJ's use.

    YJ steering in an XJ?

That bracket that RPC made wouldn’t use the original steering stabilizer, correct? I like your design though, looks a lot beefier than the one in the link! Now the stabilizer would bolt on to the drag link, correct? I could fab up something im sure...that's half the fun sometimes saying, "yea, i...

    YJ steering in an XJ?

Well i bought tie rod and drag link at the junkyard from a YJ. I took it home cleaned it up, wirebrushed and antisiezed all the threads and layed some nice black paint on it. I went to install install it and ran into a problem. everything seemed like it would bolt right on, but the steering...

    YJ steering in an XJ?

Wos, you've been a big help! I try not to go too far (30 miles one way) with the plow just because its heavy and i was thinkin about the toe out. Ofcourse sometimes ill have it on for a couple days because it might still be snowing out. I have a toe-in gauge that you drive over and maybe ill...

    YJ steering in an XJ?

Goatman, im pretty sure we are on the same page that the tow-in would not change when i have the plow on and when i have it off, right? This is why i like the YJ design because the tie rod goes from knuckle to knuckle, and will not change with a load on the front end. I know the steering wheel...

    YJ steering in an XJ?

I searched high and low and cant find much on the topic. I have a 6.5 foot western plow on my 2000 XJ and am looking to swap out the "inverted Y" steering linkage for the traditional style steering with a good ol' tie rod and drag link. I would like to do it all with junk yard parts. Im only...

    heater making noises help

I have the same exact problem SeeJay, mine is a 2000 also. Mine only does it when it it really cold out, 10 or 15 degrees. To me it sounds like it is 100% on the heater side of the vacuum system (right where the heater gets its vacuum from under the hood, passanger side under the body seam)...

    D30 Axle Diameters?

I wanted to upgrade the axle shafts in my 2000 cherokee (without ABS). I have a 2 inch lift and am running 235-75-15 sneakers. I put new axle u-joints in it a year ago because they were going bad, and when i did, i measured the axle diameters vs. another set of D30 axles i had from another XJ (i...

2000 XJ Cat Converters ever go bad?

I have a 2000 XJ (130K) with california emissions and I was wondering if anybody has ever had their cat converter (or converters) go bad or clog up. My jeep lacks power compared to my brothers who has the exact same drivetrain configuration except his is an '01 and fedeal emissions. It just...

Differences between cali emissions and fed and software

ok, so i wont take the cat off it. as for plugs, i replaced them with the ones called out on the catylist under the hood, champion plugs. i put in a "new" throttle position sensor, crank sensor and coil pack from the junk yard and it still acts the same. when i put my scan tool on and went for a...

Differences between cali emissions and fed and software

What are the differences between the california and federal emissions? I know there are 2 more cats and only 4 o2 sensors on the california emissions. I have a 2000 XJ with cali emissions and my brother has an 01 with federal emissions. his seems to have more power than mine. we have the same...

    #4 Misfire

oh i forgot to elaborate more on the shift points....im thinkingif i had a misfire that is causing me to lose power that is going to affect the the engine vacuum and maybe the transmission shift points are based on vacuum as well as speed. Kinda like a Turbo 350 Tranny. Maybe ill try swapping in...

    #4 Misfire

All the champion spark plugs i took out looked the same, a slight tan to the porcilin, nothing out of the ordinary. I did not have it pluged into the scanner when the engine was cold, but you can still feel it skip when i start it up cold. i feel the skip just sitting in the seat in park, and...

    #4 Misfire

I have a 2000 Cherokee (4.0 with the coil pack) with 127K and i notice sometimes it idles a little rough and does not seem to have the good power that my brothers jeep has. i cleaned the throttle body, put new plugs in a little while ago and it still acts the same. I checked the codes with my...
