    Air conditioning issue

Yeah i agree with sjx, my problem was thermal related. As the jeep heats up, the metals change size enlarging that gap just enough to prevent the clutch from getting sucked in by magnetic force to engage. That's why it worked for me for first 20 mins then died. Once everything cooled down it was...

    Air conditioning issue

I had this issue on my 97. Blow cold for 20 mins before quitting. The clutch simply stopped engaging and I got warm air. I had an ac guy look at it and he said one of those tiny washers (shims) needed to be removed from the clutch. I can recall running this idea through naxja and didn't get an...

    Power steering/uj joints

Thanks winter, yeah it got torqued down right. I wanted to add that my ujoint made no sound. Nor did it have any play in it. However spinning the wheel, WHILST trying to turn it, locked it up. That's why I could not feel it through the steering stationary. Three of the four caps were good. The...

    Power steering/uj joints

Hi, I had a look at this and whilst removing those three 12 point bolts I must have knocked that sensor with the hammer or more likley with the spanner itself wedging between it. This was the cause of my brake problem. The sensor got knocked upwards a few degrees. I've straightened it back and...

    Power steering/uj joints

Ok a quick update on this. I cleaned the surface of that sensor and checked I had installed the brakes correctly, and still the same issue. I've found the relay and fuses for the abs(convieniantly labled under the hood). And now my brakes work fine although I guess without abs which is no big...

    Power steering/uj joints

ok ive found one possible cause. I was using a wire brush down there and maybe some crud got flung up onto the sensor. Any other ideas would be great. Can i just confirm worse case scenario if one of my cogs has taken a hit, or im at a loss as to whats up with it, can i just remove the relay on...

    Power steering/uj joints

Hi, I done this today and found this post very helpfull so thankyou matthew currie. The 3/8 short extension thing worked a treat!! Anyway now the problem! (couldnt go smoothly for me now could it). It started to get dark so i started to rush the reassemble of the brakes (yeah i know that was...

    Mixing ATF and DEXIII

If you just remove the sump plug without removing the filter, you'll only let out about 2 litres. So don't go pouring in any more than that otherwise you'll overfill. Ask me how I know! I flushed my system through by giving it about 6 or 7 changes thus way. Driving about 15 miles between each...

    Power steering/uj joints

Hi and thanks matthewcurrie. That's a good heads up. I searched with some of your critera and found a post on the Internet with pictures, I tried pasting it here but the pictures wouldn't come out. Hopefully this is a link. http://www.myjeepxj.com/index.php?page=u-joint-replacement I don't...

    Power steering/uj joints

Hi, I've got an issue with my power steering that I've been looking at for a while now. Here's the issue. My power steering seems to work for about an inch as I spin the wheel, then goes stiff for an inch, then it frees up again. Kinda like stuttering power steering!?! It also does it as the...

Power steering works for an inch then no!

Just to add, I'm not sure when the changeover took place but my car is the facelifted version. Thanks

Power steering works for an inch then no!

Hi, well they say when it rains! My power steering has developed an issue in my 97 4ltr auto RHD. It works fine stationary lock to lock both ways so I'm assuming not the pump for the time being. All I'd like to know for the time being is will a power steering pump from an 01 grand Cherokee fit...

    Anti lock brake

Cheers kastein, sorry we were typing at the same time!

    Anti lock brake

Further to the above, what I'm trying to say is with abs activated my jeep retains practically zero braking energy compared with other cars. Does that sound right for jeep, or have I got issues. And by pulling that relay would it cause issues that shorty touched on?

    Anti lock brake

This is interesting, my abs sucks and always has in both my jeeps. If I go over a bump whilst on the brakes I practically loose all brakes and have to release before reapplying. Also if I do happen to lock up/cause the abs to kick in I get a miniscule amount of braking resistance to the road...

    Power outlet socket/cps issue conected?

The connector wasn't gunked up, it was only a year old. The connection also "looked" good. Maybe an amount of heat transfer was making it's way down the metal wiring to the sensor itself? Just enough to say no thankyou! I don't know! But I do know left overnight to cool down completley I'd get...

    Power outlet socket/cps issue conected?

Yeah that's what the recovery guy was scratching his head over winterbeater. It's just wires right? Because he turned up an hour later my car had cooled down I assured him my car would start and drive perfect on either petrol or liquid gas for about 5 miles before spluttering and dying on either...

    Power outlet socket/cps issue conected?

Yeah I mean the crank position connector that is attached to that small bracket on the manifold. My lower heater hose was in contact with the connector. And it was this that I simply unplugged a few weeks ago and then reconnected(but I also pushed it up and back abit away from the connector...

    Power outlet socket/cps issue conected?

Ok an update to this. The wiring was tested and checked with no issues so forget the power socket/phone. Since unplugging the cps I drove the best part if 2500 miles without fault. Couple of days ago the issue came back during the 60 mile journey to work, (just had a few hiccups). I knew from...

    Power outlet socket/cps issue conected?

Cheers joe and casm, I've just had a very quick visual(in the dark) at the areas you mentioned and it appears I see an area of interest. When I had my auto gas system fitted, the mechanic has spliced a power feed in. I'll take some photos tomorrow in the light and show you, but I suspect this is...
