    86 XJ partout Prescott valley

1986 XJ Cherokee with 1988 rebuilt <11K mile engine, bored .030 over with shaved head and dished pistons for bumped CR (more power). Properly broken in with high ZDDP diesel oil to accomodate flat tappet cam, then ran with only 5w40 shell synthetic changed every 2K or less. Leaks a little from...

    list of doorless how-to links

i was just looking at my hinges, i have an 86, could it be possible that my passenger side hinges AREN'T flipped? I have noticed that 1st gen models (84-86) are built a little more complicated than later models, maybe AMC didn't cheap out and use the same hinges per side? In any case, is cutting...

    xj stuff

I'll get measurements tomorrow, but in any case I anticipate letting a shop shorten it. I'm heading to Yuma for turkey day, I could stop by on the trip there or back, so I'll let you know before next wednesday for sure.

    t-case swappage

This was kind of helpful, but I don't feel like tearing my t-case apart just to find out if it looks like any of the other input shafts: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np_nvg_input_gears.htm I plan on upgrading to an ax-15 in the future, as such I don't want to spend much on this quick...

    t-case swappage

Does anyone know if the input shaft from an np207 is compatible with a 231 or 242? I need a 21spl t-case as an upgrade, but can't find any near by. If I could simply use my 207's input shaft on a different model, I would be very pleased. Also, what driveshaft would be compatible (length-wise)...

    Closed Loop problems

Closed loop systems are under a naturally high pressure, don't worry about that.Just replace the bottle and it should be fine, it's usually the first thing to go as far as I know. If you can, keep the closed loop system running well, it's supposedly more efficient than an open loop.

99 fuel rail to 89 fuel setup

91-96 have the correct rail for you, as others have stated. Only difference is that both the return and send lines are right next to each other on the front. As said you can modify your original to fit though. Lucky you have a 4.0, try finding thsi stuff for the 2.5! good luck!

    ugh, big electrical problem

No, I was just using those wires because of the type of ends they have on them. I'm using a stock-style top post battery. I went out and did it all... nothing. Sucks, but I didn't have high hopes in it anyways. I'll start replacing fuses tomorrow, then move to the "big" pieces; ignition...

    ugh, big electrical problem

Grounds no, power probably, but that wont matter soon. I went out and bought marine style brass battery terminals, a 4ga "side post" power cable for system power, and a 2ga "starter cable" to use as my ground. Some "Side post" crimp-on connectors will replace my current ends (already have 2ga...

    ugh, big electrical problem

No replies... I checked C101, the ignition switch, and the starter. All are fine. I'm getting enough power in "acc" to light my tester (two LED's attatched to two wires), but as soon as I touch anything that would require any kind of load; bang, no LED's. If I put it in "Run," no power...

    ugh, big electrical problem

Found out my negative battery wire wasn't connected to the clamp very well. luckily I always carry spares so I swapped that. Yes it is clean. Just worked twelve hours so haven't had the chance to dig around, I'll go out right now and see if it has anything... doubt it. I suspect highly that it...

    ugh, big electrical problem

No fuseable links on the engine harness of the 94 YJ, just the PDC and the under-foot fuse box. I'll check C101 again and test the starter solenoid. Thanks for trying.

    ugh, big electrical problem

Just a test light currently, it seems I can get through the PDC and to the alternator, that's it for 12v, anything on the driver side of the engine bay is dead. 86 XJ 2.5L. Thing is; it thinks that it's a 94 YJ. Ha, I've rewired the entire engine bay, so I know every connection in there is...

    ugh, big electrical problem

battery is good, alternator is good, ignition switch is good, everything in the PDC is good, all but a few (non important) fuses are good, but ABSOLUTELY no power in the cab, anywhere! Someone suggested the starter solenoid is out, but I don't know... Oh and I checked all of my grounds and...

TJ D30 to ZJ D30 swap.

If you can find an XJ axle, that would be a much better route. HP and a direct swap! 95-99 are the best, otherwise ~89-94 w/ABS will have larger U-joints, therefore stronger. Good luck!

Dana 44 from an 87 XJ drum to drum

Yeah, but with a 2.5L and 33's, the size of the pinion wont be a problem at all... Well, if it's gone before I can get the money for it, no worries, I'll come across another one in time. good luck!

Dana 44 from an 87 XJ drum to drum

Oh, my 35 is only dying because of the mileage it's seen (plenty, alot of towed miles anyways). Not because of larger tires. I was hoping 3.73's so the carrier break wont be an issue, but I'd like to regear to 4.88 and carriers are cheap anyways... In any case I'll let you know, I just opened...
