2000 XJ Check Engine Light - FSM Codes?

Thanks. Autozone hooked it up. I might purchase one of those devices... So my codes are: P1494 - Leak Detection Pump Sw or Mechanical Fault P0302 - Cylinder #2 Misfire I put in some injector cleaner with a fresh tank of gas about 30 miles ago. Might that trigger these codes? I'll start...

2000 XJ Check Engine Light - FSM Codes?

I have the FSM but can't find the codes. What section are they under? Also, is there a procedure on the 2000 to get the light to flash out the code? I found the thread for a 93 but it doesn't work on my 2000 (and the neighbors now think I'm insane). Thanks, Jim

Web Site for FSM on CD

Looks like anything related to FSM is not searchable or I'm forgot to take off the idiot hat this morning. At any rate, I want to purchase the FSM on CD (PDF?) for my 2000 XJ before I start tearing down and blueprinting the replacement 4.0. What's the site that sells this? I believe they were 90...

    Front Brake pads and rotors

Lived that dream last weekend. PartsAmerica.com swapped the temporarily unavailable rotor I ordered for my 2000 with "comparable" rotors. Torqued everything down and the front tires were completely locked. The new rotors were about 1/16" deeper than the stock version. Now I have to pay to ship...

Bolt size for engine stand - 2000 4.0L

Turned out 3/8 top and 10mm bottom bolts. Holy cow is that motor HEAVY! I was planning on waiting to purchase an engine hoist but I don't think I'm going to be able to get it from the shed back into the trailer to go the machine shop without one. I think this thing is heavier than the old...

Bolt size for engine stand - 2000 4.0L

Did a quick search but I'm an idiot and don't remember what the names of the bolts are where you mount the 4.0L on an engine stand. All I'm coming up with is "dem-bolts-on-da-back-a-da-moder'. Got my rebuild starter (complete with blown head from a 2000 Wrangler) in the trailer and want to put...

I thought I'd get better milage

I haven't had my 2K/4.0 very long. It's not burning oil but the pressure is really low so a rebuild is in the works. That said, I was getting around 15 mpg average on a 18 mile round trip all highway at 60-75 mph. I watched an episode of Myth Busters that talked about drafting big rigs and...

2000 XJ vs TJ 4.0 Block

DIS = Distributorless Ignition System, right? That's what I've got. So, with the head cracking problem of the later model motors that I've read so much about here, is it worth having the holes on an earlier head bored out to 1/2? Is there a better or worse head choice if I go with a stroker...

2000 XJ vs TJ 4.0 Block

So after putting in the new oil pressure sensor on my 2000 XJ the oil pressure is reading exactly the same. About 25 at 2000 RPM under load and 10 at hot idle. I think it's on its last legs so I'm working on plan B. I'm going to purchase another motor and rebuild it. There are a couple of...

    Oil Pressure Issue?

Ok, so the oil pressure sensor is on the way. Goes in next weekend. Next question. If someone can point me to other threads, that's cool too. I'll search in a few minutes... I've swapped out engines before. It's always fun (not!) but usually worth while if you've got a strong body and solid...

    Oil Pressure Issue?

So I dumped in some oil system cleaner and ran it for the rec 3 minutes. Dumped it, pulled the filter and checked the oil pressure sending unit connections. Connector is clean. Should I have pulled the entire unit off? Put on a Purolature PureONE filter and 10w30 oil. Ran it for about 45 minutes...

    Oil Pressure Issue?

2000 Sport, 4.0, Auto, np231, 69,500 miles So I found out after doing a bit of research on the stickers on my Jeep that it was a delivery vehicle in NYC. Turns out this may be important. I'm thinking lots of hard takeoffs on a cold engine and ALL city driving for the first 3 years of its life...

    2000 XJ - Negative Camber

No cupping, feathering or uneven wear on the tires yet. It's tough to find an alignment shop around here that doesn't have a bunch of 'parts changers'. That will happen after I put it up and check for play in the knuckles. Thanks for the help everyone. Jim

    2000 XJ - Negative Camber

Well, currently I don't go off road at all. Got a buddy in WV that I'm looking forward to hooking up with soon but nothing yet. The previous owner did the drive back and forth between DC and NYC so those were highway miles. Prior to that it was a fleet delivery vehicle in NYC so potholes is...

    2000 XJ - Negative Camber

So I've got a little vibe between 55 and 60 and I'm going to have the wheels balanced but in looking at things I noticed something a bit disburbing, or at least it seems so to me. When looking directly down either side of the Jeep, the front wheels appear to have about a degree or two of...
