Maybe the pump isn't at fault. Make sure you have 12v at the pump, if you don't the pump will click like you say it does. You can test your old pump by hooking it up directly to 12v (battery) and see if it works. Don't let it run for a real long time though, they don't like to run dry. Let us...

8* is the max castor. Get yourself an alignment with 0* toe and between 6* and 8* of castor and you should be good. Castor really only affects steering return but too much might contribute to that shimmy your experiencing. Good luck. -Rich
