    what size tap?

If it was as easy as pulling a bolt I would not have posted here. There currently is no bolts in it just rusty threads and two large studs that hold the heat shield in place. 10mm sounds right but thread pitch is my main concern. Thanks to those that are actually helping and not just being dicks.

    ZJ Rear springs for Lift

From what I understand You use the front GC springs in the rear for about 3" lift in the back. If that is true you would lower the front of your xj about two inches.

    31's with a 2inch lift?

Factory wheels with 31s and 2" spacers should be no problem driving around town. Will rub lower control arms at full lock and maybe the body when flexed.

    trouble code 45??

All vehicles 1996 and newer have OBD 2. The best way to diagnose problems on those is with an OBD2 scan tool. One scanner works on all vehicles 1996 and up and they usually include a book or cd rom to decipher your codes. Can buy one at most auto parts stores and probably walmart for less than $100

    Selec-Trac Advantages

I wish my 97 had the 242. It would seem to me any one who has ever driven between 1" of slush and dry roads in 50' of road would love the versitility of the 242. 32" mud terrain tires don't grip so well in slushy or icy conditions and the ability to leave it in FT instead of constantly shifting...

    Fog Light Gremlins

It takes less than 5 amps to activate a relay. Your factory switch is more than enough to do this. DO NOT run full power to the lights thru the switch.

    Fog Light Gremlins

Sounds like you need a new switch, probably burned out from too much draw. I have got two 100w KC lights running off my factory switch. The best way to do it is to have the wire coming from the switch activate a relay to power the lights. Veryt small amount of amps will be going thru the switch...

2" lift with Moabs -- what tire size?

Try them and see. It's all in the back spacing. My brother put 235-75r15 on a set of after market wheels and rubbed the front fenders because they stuck out too far so it got a 2" BB. I always ran 235-75r15 on my stock wheels no problem. Now I have got a 2" bb in my 97 with stock 16 in alum...

What fluid for a 5 spd?

GL5 supercedes GL3 and GL4 it will say this right on the back of the can. API ratings are up graded every few years your owners manual will probably call for GL3 which was the API standard when the vehicle was made but is now replaced with GL5. Mitchell on demand calls for GL5 75w90. Regardless...
