Well I was talking to a buddy about my stroker buildup in my trail jeep when he took me into the corner of the garage and happened to point at motor and said "get it out of my garage" :clap: Upon further discussion it is a 318 with roller lifters, It already has the rear sump pan in it, and...
And so it begins...
I have started hording parts for my stroker build up, through the reading of the archives, various websites, this is what I have come up with:
AMC 258 12 counterweight Heavy crank
Stock 4.0l Rods (soon to be shotpeened and magnafluxed, new arp rod bolts)
Custom Forged...
So.. There I was driving up a hill and all of a sudden the engine died. After rolling backwards to a stop, thank you tree, we cranked it again to get it started and it just cranked. No start! Then we troubleshot, no fuel pressure, checked voltage ~6volts at pump figured it was a dead pump...
Well, I'm getting ready for the winter projects already. Started gathering up parts to build up my RENIX based stroker. I have chosen to go the long rod route. Just because I can dial in the Quench and CR.
Right now I'm looking at the following:
258 Crank
Recon 4.0l Rods
Custom Pistons...
Well, to make a long story short....
87 xj died this weekend, we narrowed it down to a fuel problem. No fuel pressure at the rail, and we couldn't hear the pump turn on. So we checked it for voltage. It was 6.6 volts in the on position, don't know what it was in the crank position.
