84, 85 or 86 model xj. I need a 2.8 v6 model w/ auto trans. any condition as long as threre is a transmission in it. Or either a rebuildable automatic trans or a complete stock standard trans setup from the bellhousing to t-case at least. Willing to travel to pick up
Thanks, dan.
Looking for a 2.8 powered auto trans model. All I really need is a few stock drivetrain parts ( useable auto trans or a good rebuildable core) for now.
Thanks, Dan
Any condition,
All I need is the transmission- stick or auto. I am in central maine but will travel a bit to pick it up.
Thanks, Dan
Oh yeah, its a V6 2.8.
I'm looking for a shop to rebuild my transmission. Preferably a place that knows offroad/towing type applications and wont be afraid to perhaps put a shift kit in while they have it. Any reccomendations in central Maine?
Thanks, Dan.
Looking for a good useable 904 trans with or without transfer case. Will consider a parts vehicle.
Also looking for a 3.4 V6 to replace my 2.8
PM with details. Thanks!
Dan
I got an 89 xj cheep to fix up. It supposedly has a bad ball joint and that is why it failed a safety inspection, along with some rust.
I searched and couldnt find a procedure to check these for wear.
Is there any way to check for worn ball joints while this thing is in my driveway up on jack...
That's exactly what I am after!
So another way to put it is say with a junkyard axle, with the pinion held fast with posi: BOTH axles will stay locked as well... right? And with an open diff one or both axles will spin.
Do I have it?
Hi gang,
I'm an old So Cal off roader that needs some fairly elementary info on Identifying a posi/locker dif. vs. an open rear?
Say I am buying a differential from wherever. On or off the Jeep. Is there a way to check for a posi diff without pulling the cover?
By the way, no tag on cover.
I...
Thanks dirkg! Now that I hear that I feel confident enough to drop the bucks on the used gauge set. Any problems with the gas gauge? Are the sending units compatable?. 86 xj - mech. fuel pump. 91xj electric fuel pump. Just a thought. I know they (the fuel pumps) are separate from the sending...
I have an '86 XJ W/2.8 V6, I am upgrading my gauges to include a stock tach. I need help on wiring a stock tach from a 91 HO 4.0 I6 to a stock 86 2.8 v6 that had no tach.
This engine has a normal GM type external coil.
Details would be very helpful ie: wire colors, etc. Do I need the harness...
Matt,
I just got home from work and sad to say but I gotta work tomorrow after all.
Lets try it again next sunday as I'm darn sure I wont be asked two sundays in a row to work!
Happy Trails, Dan
Hey Matt,
I'm taking sunday off.
So lets do it!
I'm thinking I can meet you guys coming from the south of me at the Jeep dealer on Hwy 201 in Skowhegan. Its about 5mins away from me.
Believe it or not the only thing I have ever bought from the dealer is a hat!
Happy Trails, Dan.
