TJ flares and Paint finally done!

If you're talking about Chilly's Jeep, those do look like CJ flares in the before pics.

TJ flares and Paint finally done!

Heck, I sold that Jeep a year ago when I bought my TJ! :shhh: I still read some of the threads here though.

    2.8? Need Advise!!

This guy has a nice writeup on his website for replacing the 2.8 with a 3.4 http://www.lunghd.com Sorry, but nobody is going to tell you what a great engine that is, because it's not. That same 2.8L was used in '87 and older S10 blazers and it was trash. They seemed to go through head gaskets...

    U-joint to CV Joint???

I have an '88 so it would be the 260's NAPA part number NUJ 365.

towhooks can be done instead of hitches!

Make sure your liability insurance is paid up. Flying tow hooks mess things up hella good. Ongoing thread here with pictures: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=202080 I especially like the pic where someone used a recovery hook on the uniframe and ripped it open like a beer can...

    U-joint to CV Joint???

...And do yourself a favor and stay away from the Brute Force joints, they're perfectly worthless and break if you sneeze on 'em. I broke both of mine. I bought a set of NAPA wheel joints and they have yet to break, much better quality and thicker construction. The Brute Force joints center...

used xj parts in the tampa, fl area???

I recommend you try LKQ Copher (Formerly Copher Brothers). If you go to one of the already pulled for you places (Like Clearwater auto parts (aka Barely Used) or Starkey auto parts in Pinellas Park) they'll bend you over pretty good. Let's just say I pulled and bought my NP231 in perfect...

    Ford Coils

For starters read my post above. You got the wrong springs period! The springs MUST be from/for a 1978 or "older" F150, not newer. The open end of the spring is supposed to be round and not look like a "D". If you ground or cut up the spring perches on your axle to fit these things, that wasn't...

Possible faulty temp gauge? Hear me out on this...

Wouldn't be the first time a haynes manual was wrong. According to the FSM there are two temp sensors one to the rear of the head for the dash gauge and the one on the thermostat housing for engine control. IIRC the one on the thermo housing supplies its own ground loopback wire so that the...

Possible faulty temp gauge? Hear me out on this...

I always thought you weren't supposed to use teflon tape or RTV on the threads because it acts as an insulator not permitting the sender to ground properly. The threaded body of the sender is what usually ties it to ground unless this one is different. Mark

    Ford Coils

They should be for a '78 or older F150. Somewhere in mid '79 they added a flat bend in the open side of the coil and it would never seat on your lower coil spring mount. The TRW part number for the coils is CS-8228. This is the setup I'm using on mine with 2 extra isolators for 3". It rode...

Question for all those with overhead consoles

I had a '95 Dodge Caravan and it had that exact overhead console. The vent switches controlled electric motors in the rear to swing out the rearmost side windows. Mark

    Newbie help - converting 2wd 95 cherokee to 4wd

I believe they will be doing their own labor, (probably for fun) so no cost other than their time there. If they find the right deal they should be able to pull this off for around $350-$500. I seriously doubt they would get a working 4x4 model even in the same model year for only that much...

Raymart, Warn, Milemarker winches... need opinions on quality

Just FYI, the Harbor Freight winches are milemarker permanent magnet models marketed under the Chicago electric label. MM 8000: http://www.milemarker.com/PE8000.html MM 9000: http://www.milemarker.com/e-winch9.html I don't have any experience with these winches but I am considering purchasing...

reading codes on '88 renix motor?????

They used the scan tool to verify proper operation of the ECU. You'll note that they refer to using the DRB II tester when proper voltages do not exist. As far as the TPS the square connector is the only one you adjust for, IIRC the other connector gives feedback to the TCU (trans. control unit)...

reading codes on '88 renix motor?????

You need to find yourself the following Jeep service manual: 4.0 Liter Multi-point Fuel Injection (1987-1990 RENIX System). On the cover it has a picture of the 4.0 liter fuel rail on what looks like graph paper. This book along with a nice digital multimeter should be all you need to diagnose...

I need these American Racing wheels...

They were clearancing those out at PepBoys out here a little over a year ago for around $40 a wheel (2 local PepBoys were being closed down) and they were not flying off the shelf. I heard somebody at the store looking at them say "They look like a salad bowl with a bolt pattern and hub cutout"...

    Does Anybody Know If...

If you're talking about an underdrive pulley set like they put on the mustang 5.0's it's highly unlikely. On this engine the harmonic balancer and the crank pulley are one unit. On most other engines you can actually remove the crank pulley FROM the harmonic balancer and put a smaller one on and...
