NP242 transfer case indicator switch seal?

I put in a Dorman switch since I couldn't find anything else for the 242 and it has done the job well enough. Sometimes it does take popping it into reverse to get the part-time light to turn off.

    Axle interchange

Fair enough. You're looking for a donor with a manual transmission since that was the only configuration with 3.07 gearing. Finding a 29 spline replacement from a 97+ (possibly 96) narrows things down even further. An earlier model 27 spline replacement isn't as durable, but it will keep you on...

    Axle interchange

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you after 3.55 gears, an upgraded rear end, or even just a replacement for a blown rear end?

    NP242 Questions

That sounds normal. Binding in the ball or needle bearings would be more of a concern. New ones are pretty tight which helps you pinch your fingers more often during the assembly process.

    Mystery Damage

I can believe that. A minor vibration at 60 or even 65 can become quite the howl at 70. All it takes is a little more speed or rpm sometimes to really bring out the demons.

    NP242 Questions

The Novak kit for the early 242 versions (242MR-1 for 87-93 builds with the wide input bearing) had all the necessary bearings. Surprisingly, it also came with a new filter. The only thing really missing was 1 of 2 matching o-rings and the correct seal for the shifter. There was a shifter seal...

    NP242 Shift Detent issue

If it can shift without the pin and you haven't accidently replaced the spring with a longer one, you may just need to try using a little more force to test it out. I finished a rebuild recently and the lever was definitely tight, but I was able to move it by jamming it with my palm. Without the...

8.25 rear with Disc Brakes. Problem

Buy some brake fluid if you don't have any on hand and maybe some caliper grease for the slide pins. It wouldn't hurt to bleed to calipers or lube the slide pins while you're there, but hopefully the issue is right under your nose.

    Door check pin?

If the brackets they pop into are decent, Dorman 38434 is a non-Mopar option. I got a package of 4 of them. Cost 5-6 dollars. If they are backing out, you can use a screwdriver to spread the pin so that it's a snug fit. I'm not sure how well that works though, just seen it suggested.

    Arcing on harmonic balancer

Hopefully so. I can't find any other causes. I marked the balancer and saw no sign of slipping.

    Arcing on harmonic balancer

Yea I've seen that thread as well. The arcing seems to stop once the engine has warmed up. I'd just prefer it not happen at all. I'll check out the balancer a little more and keep an eye on it.

    Arcing on harmonic balancer

The strap looks ok. I looked again and the balancer clears everything from what I can tell. One person said a different belt solved the problem for them on I think a Cummins diesel. The rest have been balancer rubber coming out the back. The belt I took off was probably a Gates. I replaced it...

    Arcing on harmonic balancer

I heard a tick, tick, tick noise the other day and noticed an arc jumping over the rubber dampener from one half of the harmonic balancer to the other. I've done some searching and it sounds like the most likely cause is friction somewhere. I've looked at the back of the balancer without pulling...

    Replacing middle (crossmember) exhaust hanger

DEA A5208 looks pretty close. I saw it at Rockauto the other day listed under transmission mount.

    ACOS

This is already posted in the Red River Chapter, but I figured I'd make a post over here as well. I've got a new Currie ACOS setup for sale. It's the same as JKS as far as I can tell. The Currie part is CE-ACOS or JS-ACOS which is equivalent to JKS version 2200. Works on the front of the...

    ACOS

Looks like it. 2200 fits the front of these vehicles: 84-01 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) 86-92 Jeep Comanche (MJ) 93-98 Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ) 97-06 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) 04-06 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (TJ)

    ACOS

My Jeep's a green 2 door. I haven't had it up here since late November I think. The Currie part is CE-ACOS or JS-ACOS which is equivalent to JKS version 2200. For whatever reason JKS wants more money for them. Here's a picture of them. I wanted to see if they looked the same as the JKS...

    ACOS

I've got a new Currie ACOS setup for sale. It's the same as JKS as far as I can tell. I ordered it then changed my mind and went another direction so it's unused. I paid 200+ shipping. I'd like to sell it for 200 shipped. I don't have it with me in College Station or I'd be willing to meet...
