AUTOZONE FRONT WHEEL / UNIT BEARINGS ?

I have a 90 as well. Carefully check the height of them on the counter compared to your old ones. There was a change at some point. I got home, got it all buttoned up, and the brake disc is in a bind, wheel wont turn. Check them close. Timken fine by me, although I didnt know they are...

New Aussie Install, D30, wont unlock

I run the same setup and I vote that you are fine. Mine does that on slickrock trails in Moab. Steering will get tight and tires chirp a little. Pavement providing same effect. I never hear my front ratchet either, just the back. And RCP is right, dont do that on pavement. I test my 4wd in...

    stuck on defrost!?

My fix was right under and right of the steering wheel under the dash. Up under there where the emissions timer is. Its a vacuum servo motor. Toyed around and plugged i believe it was the blue fitting. Fixed the defrost problem. Check it out.

    Keeping Receipts

Ive had them go blank in the house in a shoebox. Total scam. At least now some of them keep your phone number for warranty. Oreilly has good paper.

Vacuum leak fixed, still only defrost

Just to the right of the steering wheel under the dash there is a vacuum servo motor that controls the vent positions. I located the right color one, i think it was blue, removed it from the servo, and plugged it with a golf tee. fixed it. Dont ask me how taking one of them out of play fixed it...

    Steering??

Fearing for your life is a bit extreme. The design sucks on this thing. As mentioned, you must take off the drag link or a tre to adjust toe. and it rolls when you turn the wheel, giving a lot of slop in the steering. As far as the same price point, I dont know man, Id be tempted to get a...

    First day on the job.

Some restaurants are like that. You basically pay them with your time to then turn around and make them money. Total BS. But folks are willing to do it to earn money. My trail partner goes through this. "You will make a ton of money" translates to "Someone will make a ton of money." He worked at...

question about grease in grease guns

Mine does this too. Annoying to say the least. Im wondering what the grease in the joints and TRE's looks like? Does it turn into a liquid-ish state? Thus reducing lubricating qualities? Or is it all in my head? Discuss.

    regear quote.

I went to just about every junk yard in houston a few years back when i did my 44 swap. There was none to be had. And even with all those yards on north shephard, no dice. Go put eyeballs on what they have, I was told over and over that they have one only to look under and find an oval case...

What's the stupidest thing you ever did that you would admit to?

Pulled the oil pan a few times over the years to do various work, main seals, oil pump, rod bearings, etc. You all know the pain of getting the pan back in without knocking the gasket off, even with a lift. Finally had the engine on a stand and did the most beautiful pan gasket job, all torqued...

    U Joints needed....

very good info. I guess im right to respect this driveshaft. I looked it up on stu offroads write up site, and what im looking for is the dust cover. it is missing on this shaft. is this crucial? looks almost like steel in the photo on that site, but its rubber. have all the shafts youve done...

    U Joints needed....

I appreciate the input. What have you seen fail the most on the ones youve rebuilt? joints or center ball? Sorry to bombard you with questions, gearing up for Moab next month and its a long way from here.

    U Joints needed....

No the rubber boot that surrounds the centering ball. the shaft i got from the yard didnt have one. I replaced the centering ball and joints. just doesnt have the boot like my 90 stock front shaft does. Question is does that boot around the centering ball hold in the grease? guy at the local...

    rustys Tie Rod Conversion

Good timing, I just got back from the parts house where i replaced one of the tie rod ends. 39 bucks for moog. If i had it to do over again, I would get something else. Not sure which one sucks, but if you look at it, the design is bad. its almost impossible to align. you have to take a tie rod...
