I made the big mistake of buying fixed control arms when i bought my RE lift for my XJ....its created problems with pointing my pinion down too much causing vibration and a little bit of binding at times when on the trail. Moneys tight right now or else id just junk the whole things and do...
They dont call it carnage canyon for nothing!! I had a little run in with a tree on firemans hill..... :confused1
Dont ask how i pulled that one off!!!
A little bit of the aftermath from the tree that saved me from going completely over....nice dent in the roof and bye bye mr side...
All electronics and spline counts aside, what is needed to bolt up an AW4 to replace an AX-15 on a 93 4.0? Just the crossmember for the auto? Im talking just the bare minimum to bolt it in....not concerned with electronics as im going to be converting it to a manual shift.
I got some crazy vibrations on our last outting on the way back. I chocked it up to snow being packed in every which nook and cranny of the driveline. I melted all the snow off yesterday and took it for a drive today. When accelerating, you can go as fast as you...but when you let off at...
Does anyone have any instructions or a schematic for assemblying a detroit locker for an XJ D30? I checked tractechs webpage but didnt find anything...
Was there a specific year or model that the HP D30s came in? How do i tell if i have a LP D30? Are their any distinguishing marks that will set the two apart? Anyone have any pics of a high and low side by side to note where the pinion actually is?
I see a decent market for XJ's and 4:1 or similar kits from companies like tera-flex or atlas, but in all honesty, that just doesnt give the crawl ratio to do serious rock crawling with a manual tranny without being semi-hard on the clutch. My pops has a marlin crawler setup in his yota with a...
Ill admit it...Im a sticker/decal whore...Jeep stickers, off-road stickers, whatever....are there any good web sites that sell LOTS of stickers that you guys could recommend??
Alrighty...im getting some knocking/thumping noises coming from my front axle ONLY when in 4WD. At first, i was pointing fingers at my locker as it sounds vaguely familiar to it ratcheting. Ive pulled it apart half a dozen times and confirmed its working properly...which it is, so that...
I replaced my plugs and wires last night and took it for a spin this morning only to find that my temp gauge stopped working...im thinking i knocked a wire loose or something, but i looked and didnt see anything loose. Where exactly is the sender and associated wiring on a 93 with a 4.0??
Im feeling lazy and its too cold outside to go check.....:laugh3:
But how accessable are all 6 plugs on your standard HO 4.0 in an XJ? Any particular ones that are a bastard to get out due to clearance issues??
Any particular brands that you guys would recomend?
Ive found a KILLER deal on a set of built axles for my XJ(AX-15, 4.0)....only thing is, they have 4.88's in them. This is not for a DD, but it does see a modest amount of time on the highways/roads between trails. Does anyone run 4.88s with 33s? Hows the mileage?
Im going to regear my XJ, but have been tossing around the idea of swaping out the rear axle for something a little more stout(currently a 27 spline 8.25) since I will be running it locked with 33's. I was thinking a D44 from a waggy or MJ, but locating one for a reasonable price has proven to...
Ive decided to weld the spiders on my 8.25(please dont try to change my mind...im set in my ways!! :laugh3: ) and was wondering if a 135 AMP lincoln mig is gonna be enough to weld this up, penetration wise? Any advice other than "dont weld it"?
The Lock-Right that i currently have in my D30 is starting to turn into a headache. Its unpredictable...i dont like the way lunchbox lockers work with the pins/springs and they seem that their more trouble than their worth. Ive replaced the pins/springs twice, the carrier shaft once and it...
In regards to this thread....

I pulled it out this morning while the turkey was cookin and found this...
Is this normal wear and tear for a Lock-Right?? Seemed a bit excessive to me. The diff pin was just polished...those arent...
