I removed the ignition switch and used a screwdriver slided it back and forth and to start the Cherokee. The gearing and remote rod symetry was all offset. I removed the shroud and some pieces fell out. I had to jiggle the toothed sprocket on the left side that moves everything to get it all to...

New KeY Cyl did not fix.

I have looked in a fsm and have seen where the remote rod and ignition switch are. i didn't get a chance to drop the steering wheel yet. So I now have another question. could a faulty ignition switch hang up and keep the remote rod from moving? Do you think this could be most of our problem. Jim

New KeY Cyl did not fix.

The Key Cyl has a slot cut in the end. When the cylinder is installed it fits over a tab of metal inide the steering column. Need real help with trans shift problem.

More than likely the fuse to the TCU. If it is don't forget to clear any tranny code set or it will still act like it is broken.

    Transmission???

reach under the glovebox under the dash and pull down the TCU. there is an inline fuse in there. This is exactly what mine did and a tranny shop said $1500 to 2000 to fix. I dropped the tranny and put in one from a wrecking yard. When I was done it still acted like what you said your is doing. I...

    solenoid

What does the solenoid farthest forward in an AW-4 tranny control. My old tranny would not move very well, felt like the parking brake was on when I tried to take off. Everything else worked well and I could even get up to speed and maintain it by manually shifting up as needed. The tranny shop...
