So much for the mid-day start from home tomorrow. Still fighting 2 of the lower manifold bolts. Try again after work, should leave there around noon. If lucky, I'll be on the way by 6 or 7pm, but possibly not 'til Saturday early am. Oh well, see y'all when I get there. Jim

Head is on & torqued, rocker arms on, manifold... wait, there's no dowels in the new head. Try to find them Thursday, old ones don't want to come out. New radiator is in, both fan/shroud combos, less hoses, can't find thermostat I bought a couple of months ago... New Brown Dog motor mounts...

Block deck cleaned, new head is on! Radiator arrived, more to be done tomorrow night!

Thanks for the offer WebDog! I think my son & I should get it all done. That rear head bolt sucks! I had to bend up the seam on the firewall just to get the socket on. Not much left to do until the new head & radiator show up tomorrow. Late nights ahead! Glad to see your mods are coming...

Well, my turn. Ran into a small glitch. My long-time cracked head got worse last weekend, so instead of burning a small bit of coolant (does that qualify as a hybrid?) it's boiling pretty good. I didn't want to chance it for the Fest, so I ordered a new head, which I hoped would be in by...

Tim is right. It costs a lot more to operate in the big city (esp. in California), so rates will be much higher. Also the highest rates will usually be in areas under union control, i.e. San Francisco, Chicago, & Detroit. Labor costs to the dealer will be much higher in those towns. Property...

Sounds like a bet is on... Make it good; I'll let you know on Saturday. Haven't tightened the control arms in 7 months. But the trans mount is pretty oil soaked! I hadn't thought about the mount, just LCA's or u-joints. We'll see! Thanks guys! Jim
