    A/C evap. question

I have a 2001 XJ. Am wondering if anyone knows if both sides of the evaporator use the 4596152 line clip, or does one side use a different part #? I had the evaporator changed quite a while ago and instead of using those clips they scraped together some hose clamps and other parts. What...

    Why do CPS sensors die?

X2 on the heat. Had the one on the ZJ crap out. Ran like poop. Once engine cooled, started right up and ran fine. Someone on here mentioned pouring water on it to see if it was getting heat soaked.

Dorman trans cooler line disconect fix your leaks

Umm....They look a lot alike to me. The only real difference I see in the two pictures, besides the angle they were taken at, is the NAPA one looks like it has a red plug in the quick connect fitting end so as not to damage the white quick disconnect.

    mall crawlers

So I'm out in front of the house on the street tonite, cleaning off / warming up my XJ, which has about 6 in. of snow on it. As I move around the back of the car I see that whoever owns the nice H2 parked behind me, sometime during the day, moved it and cleared ALL the snow off the street, then...

    Ball Joint replacement - Tips

Put one side up on a jack. Grab the wheel at the 12 & 6 o'clock positions. Try pullling/pushing on the wheel. If you feel any play, ball joints are bad. As far as replacing, do get a quality c-clamp remover. The Harbor Freight one will bend, I have an ATD which has worked OK for me. This...

Ball Joint Replacment - Which Press Tool?

I have done a severa; ball joints without the special adapters. I didn't find it all that hard. Started beating the joint in with a hammer using one of the non-specific adapters. Yes, it goes in on an angle, but just look and see what that angle is. Once you get it started, go easy with it...

crisis of faith...is this '95 about to nickel & dime me?

The more repair work you do, the more confident you will be to do even more repair work. Start with the easier stuff. Once you gain confidence, move on to the harder stuff. As someone said, get a motor club membership. That will at least get you towed back to civilization. Members here can...

    In-car refrigerators... Guidance needed

The gas/electric RV types are great on propane. the flame is no bigger than a match head, and it keeps stuff COLD. On the 12V electric, meh, not so good at all. On 120, they're ok, but the propane is hard to beat.

white plastic ring thing on front drive shaft?

Yes, on both sides there is a seal. They are up right at the pumpkin, and are what hold the gear lube in the pumpkin, where the axle shafts are installed. I think that's what the how-to's are warning you about. Especially the passenger side, (longer, heavier as you note) you don't want to 'jam'...

Lower Radiator Hose Spring....Is it needed

You can always take the spring out of the old one and stick it in the new one. That's what I've done. Takes about a minute.
