Fell off! Lol
Mine is intact, jeep runs but tries to stall out after a few minutes on the road. I back probed the connector but only with a manual engine turning. 5volts. Need to get a remote start button to make my life easier diagnosing this.
I may be starting another stalling 4.0 thread...
I too would like to know about the cam sensor/pickup coil on later xj’s mine is a 96 I am currently having what appears to be the same issue that you had. Been going through the usual suspects with no joy.

Well after a failed call to the closest dealer who just kept telling me "but the computer says" over and over I just took the cover off the relay pulled the spring so the armature could be moved around a bit and cleaned the contacts put it back together and now it seems to be working fine. I'll...
I have swapped some of the others when checking out the fuel pump ect. but not this one as it was different even though I figured it was just after market. But I didn't want to risk it taking different voltage or something as I'm not that knowledgeable with electronics.
Thank you and I'll...
This is what I kept coming up with and that relay is physically different in shape. I know late 96 jeeps have some parts issues where some are 96 some are 97. I'll just give the Mopar dealer a call on monday with my vin ect...
Thanks for the reply it is still very appreciated.

I went from the top. I had the wife hold a piece of wood from under the jeep between the body and the wrench so it would not slip off. I did PB blaster the day prior a few times to let it soak in. It took some force but it came loose.
These were worth every cent.
I used an L shaped t60 wrinch from O'reillys with a 3 foot pipe on it from Home Depot. I got the smallest diameter pipe that would fit over it and left the orange cap that came on the pipe on to help snug it up. It took some time and another person to keep it in place but it did come loose.
Hello, I see you've not received any responses yet. This is my first post here so take it for it's worth.
Have you cleaned out your throttle body and TPS? This sounds like a likely culprit to me.
