Wipers and Stereo Went Out At the Same Time

Hello folks. I have a 97 XJ, that doesn't get used much lately. A couple weeks ago, I took it for a drive. The stereo was working until I hit the wipers. The wipers went up a little, then stopped, and the radio went out. A little later, a few miles down the road, they both worked again. The...

97 XJ Won't Start. Recurring Problem.

I have a 97 XJ with 97,000 miles. About a month ago, then engine died while the Jeep was stopped, and idling in Drive, at a drive thru. It wouldn't restart. The engine would turn over like normal, but no crank. I pulled a plug wire and no spark. I pulled the distributor cap, and the electrode...

    Aussie miles.

How many miles are people getting out of Aussie locked rear ends without problems with the locker? I've got about 7,000 miles on mine (in an XJ 44). Just curious to see if the Aussie is as reliable as my Cherokees have been over the years.

    Aussie rear locker owners

Dana 44. Same same. Take it easy on sharp turns. My locked XJ is better on tires than my wifes open diffed YJ.

    8.25 diff cover vs guard

The first piece of armor I was worried about was for that plastic fuel tank.

Runs like crap on hot start.

Mine started acting up after about 10 years. I posted here and was advised about the tsb listed in another post. I insulated the #3 and #4 injectors. That cleared it up immediately and, so far, permanently. Mine is a 97, and the injectors are shaped differently than the models covered in the...

    Hub bearings?

So far, all the Timken bearings, I've purchased, have come from The US. I have seen Timken seals from US, Tiawan, and India.

    Having trouble adjusting/removing tie rod

I agree. With the front endoff the ground, generously applied penetrant, and a large pair of pliers, it should be doable.

    Pennzoil Oil

I agree. The picture looks like abuse/neglect.

    Pennzoil Oil

I have also always run Valvoline conventional oil. I was always pleased. Like a sheep, who eventually goes with the flow, I've recently switched to Castrol Syntec. It took me a while, but we'll see how it works out in the long run.

    Good ring and pinion manufacturer.

No one has mentioned Genuine Gear. Is there a problem there?

Shifted my drivers seat 1" to the left!

I'm going to use this myself! My 92 is more comfy than my 97. I believe part of the reason is the seat location. This is such a simple solution, that I'll do it too, and soon.

    "Thunk" is driving me crazy!

I have the factory washers. Both bushings were rubber. I think I will get some oversized poly bushings, or else get the JKS stud eliminators. I'm using Black Diamond shocks and have been considering a different shock in the front anyway.
