    Any spark plug gurus?

Ok... So it's time for a tune-up on the old XJ. Wondering if anyone can offer any advice regarding what plugs to run and/or what the difference is between the 2 different plugs that are spec'd. I have an '85 with a 2.5L long-block from an '02 Wrangler. Manifolds, fuel, and ignition systems...

Early XJ questions - What have I gotten myself into????

Thanks Green Mesa XJ. Sucks about the heater control. I have 3 newer ones here on the shelf but no vacumn harness to go with them. Thanks for confirming steering column interchangeability... I have turn signal and ignition switch issues so a complete column swap is likely the easiest fix. As...

    Early XJ brake flex line???

Yeah thanks. No worries both lines are 3/8". Trouble I'm having now is I can't get a banjo bolt. Got a caliper and a flex line but can't find the bolt anywhere.

    Early XJ brake flex line???

Canuckistan. lol Thanks, I can get one out of montreal but that's 3 days to ship. I have the '90 one in my hand just trying to figure out if it will work. Looks like the bend at the end is different but the fitting size seems to be the same.

    Early XJ brake flex line???

So the new (to me) Jeep needs a front flex line. None of my parts suppliers list stock for an '85. Anyone know what the difference was on the early ones? They have stock for a '90 (which I have on it's way), which uses the same caliper. Anyone know any reason why a line for a '90 won't work on...

Early XJ questions - What have I gotten myself into????

4.10/4.11 in 4cyl 5spd, yes. My sources say 4spd is likely 3.73. While I haven't yet verified on this jeep I have seen this on another '85 in the past.

Early XJ questions - What have I gotten myself into????

Haven't been around for a while but with a new XJ comes new questions. And do I ever have questions. Lol. Been in the XJ/MJ game for a few decades now so I've learned a thing or two over the years. However I just picked up an '85 and that goes back a bit further than my experience. Super...

Who still owns a Renix or 84-96 XJ?

1990 Pioneer. 236,000km (146,000 miles), still just a baby. Lol.

    D35 backing plate interchange???

Nobody knows??? How about if I put it this way: Anyone ever swapped ZJ d35 discs onto an early (pre-'90) non c-clip 35? If that is bolt on it should be the same for my 9" to 10" drum swap. Make sense?

    D35 backing plate interchange???

Anyone know if you can use the brake backing plate off a non-c-clip d35 on a c-clip 35? One of my backing plates on my XJ is totally shot and needs to be replaced. The 35 out of my MJ is sitting on the floor in the garage with good backing plates and all relatively new brake components. The MJ...

    1990 XJ headlight issue.

Been ages since I've been on here, hope someone can help me out with a nagging issue with my current XJ. Ongoing problem for some time now; my headlights only work for 10-15minutes and then start cutting in and out. This is consistent and happens everytime I turn them on, they always come on no...

    21 or 23 spline AW4 identification

I've searched in the past without much luck, and may have already asked: Is there any definitive way to tell the difference without actually splitting the tranny/t-case and counting splines? Looking at doing a 242 swap on the XJ and I'd like to know which one my late 90 model year XJ has for...

    Intake Question

Absolutely true. But if you insist on going this route you will need to use the '89 gasket, '93 gasket wouldn't seal for long if at all. I Had both gaskets and a '87 intake in the garage so I took a look at how it lines up. I'd seriously think about keeping the newer intake though, it's not that...
