Thanks everybody I'm thinking it might be as simple as the distributor cap is bad because the center part that sends the spark seems like it is getting stuck up like it has a bad spring (do they have springs).

It sounded like it was turning on but was hard to here since I was in trafic.

Cps is only a couple months old I will check fuel presure what should the psi be.

I have a 97 jeep cherokee 4.0 aw4 tranny and np231. So while driving to work this morning I got maybe a quarter mile down the road and it died on me and wouldn't start. I towed it home let it sit till I get off work about 8-9hours later she starts up just fine so what should I check.it cleaned...

So I can get one that might work or I can fix the one I have and have a working one. I'm not going to throw away a part that can easily be fix especially since it's gonna be a spare just to get me home.

Because I have a known working one and don't want to waste money I'm on a budget and where are you getting one for 10 dollars.

So recently my cps broke off the mounting bracket and want to use it as a trail spare but I don't know what adhesive to use. I was thinking high heat silicone or an epoxy what do you guys think. Thanks for the help nate.

Check the bolts that hold the trans on the engine. My jeep was sputtering and would die in reverse turned out I was missing a bolt.
