FYI, just did this swap on the gf's '00 XJ yesterday. Used coils and the upper support from a 94 T-bird, and ended up with right at 4" of lift on the front. Gonna level out the rear using Durango leaves this weekend. Pics (before & after) to follow, for reference.
VERY nice work. I like the WJ box idea. I've already chopped the front of mine and shortened it....hopefully I can get away with it the way it is (LT1 doesn't run a mechanical fan) because I love the approach angle that I have right now.
This is about the only shot I have with me that...
When I still had my 30 (1986 model) in the XJ, I converted it and tried to use the 11771 seal. The O.D. of that seal was much smaller than the I.D. of axle tube...so it wouldn't work. I ended up buying a factory non-disco type seal (which was larger than the axle tube's I.D.) and machining the...
Picked up a hydraulic cylinder this weekend. Should have it together soon, as time allows. :D
In the meantime, the toe adjustment did actually help out. It's weird though....it doesn't ever go into the wobble now, but it just has the feeling like it's going to. Maybe it's just my paranoia...
I have it BAD. This is on an my XJ buggy. I thought it may have been related to my bumpsteer issue I was having with my draglink/trackbar angles being off (D60 w/highsteer arms. Draglink runs off of the tie rod [in the factory Ford hole])....but I have that corrected now. Draglink and Trackbar...
Yes.
Why is that? Then I would have my lowers above the rear axle centerline.
Nope. They're as long as they can be right now...right up against the tubing. I could raise them, but don't really want to because I liked the way it worked before....and I'm going to try it just like it is first.
I use the absolute slowest speed on my press & lots of oil. I've done 2 buggys, a CJ cage and starting on a truggy project....all on the same BluMol (Home Depot) holesaw. It still cuts great.
Did a bunch of work to the buggy recently (D60 front/10.25 rear) and had to lift it about another 4 inches to make room for the 39.5 Iroks....I was a little concerned that it would goof up my rear geometry a bit. But it looks like things should be pretty good, still. Got measurements last night...
Sorry that's the only pic I have of it with me here at work...and you can't see the cross-piece at all. I'll try to get some better ones this weekend.
Edit:
Here's a better one of the mount. Just imagine a piece of square tubing (1" IIRC) running from this mount to the other frame rail, right...
Frame-side trackbar mount needs some attention. If you're going to the trouble of fabbing on it, why not get rid of the stock piece. I tried to run mine and shredded it and part of the uni-frame in the process. Took advice from Farmer, and ran a crossmember to the opposing rail as...
I know this may not sound like Advanced Tech, but it's for my buggy so I figured I would try here first. I'm looking for some longer front braided hoses. Where are you guys sourcing yours....and what length are you using?? My current ones are about 16" and they're no where near long enough...
