    p0351, p0352, p0353 - won't start

I put this over on JeepForum, too, but thought you guys might have some insight. Really quick background My XJ was originally 2WD, blown engine, auto. Now it's got a crate motor with less than 20k on it, it's 4wd, and it's a 5-speed. It's been running perfect for about a year now. What...

    Help with rear head bolt

That's how mine came off !!! Had to do it with the head off, and put the head back on with the bolt in. It's a pain in the arse

    testing vibration

Usually balding tires will give louder road noise, but I ran my Cavalier's (when I had it) down almost to the metal and it never had any vibrations, just very, very loud. And since balancing didn't do anything........sounds like you'll have to take the next step.... :)

    testing vibration

3" lift ... vibrations at about 50mph ... me thinks you are experiencing the symptons of a Jeep that needs an SYE. Or it could just be because you have bald tires...but I'm betting more on the SYE. Especially being the 98...you've probably got the 242 with a 8.25? That's about the worse case...

    Rebuilding a transfer case

Here in about a month, hopefully sooner but I'm being realistic :), I'm going to be putting an SYE kit on my Jeep. My transfer case really needs a new chain from what I can tell. My question is this, since I'm going to have it basically unassembled, does anyone know where to get a good master...

    Clutch

The torx bolts at the top are a pain in the butt to get out. You'll probably need a swivel socket head and then the torx bolt with a long extension. As to why they decided using torx bolts in area like that is beyond me. In regards to resurfacing the flywheel, I don't think you can. They have a...

    damn jeep

I wasn't throwing parts at it. I was putting a better system in while the engine is out. Anyway, if the Open isn't an option for you, then I would look at your overflow bottle. They are known to de-pressurize and cause over-heating. Next burp the system.

    damn jeep

I don't know that it would directly and souly cause it to crack but it doesn't help. For 150 bucks you can fix it and not really have to worry about it anymore.

Intermittant Poor Running + Poor MPG

Kind of sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Have you changed the fuel filter, air filter, and keep the oil changed every 3k? That could make a big difference. Just switching the air/fuel filter on my fiance's Monte Carlo brought the fuel mileage back up to what it was brand new with 60k on the car.

think my Jeep dealer is putting the screws to me?

Completely agree. Not only is that a rediculous price quote, doesn't even sound like it's an issue.

    damn jeep

Oh, you have to drill a hole in the top of the overflow bottle's cap as well. Forgot to mention that, but it's free so it doesn't make a huge deal.

    damn jeep

Switch to an open cooling system. It's really easy!!! Here is walk through. I would definitely consider it. When rebuilding my 90, it took 3 blocks to find one that hadn't been cracked due to the horrible closed cooling system and it came from a 1993. All you have to do is get a newer radiator...

think my Jeep dealer is putting the screws to me?

What does the Transmission Cooler lines or the Track Bar have to do with the Brakes. I'd tell him he's full of crap and look at it yourself. If your tranny cooler lines are bad then there would be leaking around the oil pan or by the radiator because the cooler lines run along the bottom of the...

    What gears do I have?

Ahhhhhhh...I've been out of school too long ... that should have been a no-brainer. Thanks!!!

    What gears do I have?

I've got a 1990 Jeep Cherokee on a 5 1/2" lift and 31" tires. I'm trying to get a new speedo gear so that I don't get another ticket and I don't know what gears I have. I am almost certain that I don't have stock gears because I run about 70mph (guessing based on other traffic) and I'm only...
