    Sorry to bump this back up guys, but I need help. Of all the things Ive done to my XJ, I cant believe this one is kicking my arse. :doh: And on a side note, dont ever think your too experienced to just rip the brakes apart and rebuild by memory, pay the friggin core charge and do em 1 side...

    Brake caliper bolts

    Just did the brakes on my 96, and they are a 13 mm socket to remove the bolts, fairly positive the 97 is the same.

    Well, imo, and dont take it to heart you hardcore Autozone fans, but your first mistake was Autozone :laugh3: Not sure if you have yet, but try a Napa, it has been my experience, many, many times, that the guys and gals at Napa are the ones to see. Autozone is great if you need off the shelf...

    Hmmm, cant say I have ever seen an air filter catch fire :wierd: After you pulld the air cleaner, and started it again, how long did it smoke and what color was the smoke ??

    Parking brake lever operating rod

    Its often times called a rod coupling as well. Most hardware stores should carry them.

    Tail lights won't turn off!

    Hmm, doubt its related to the new headlights, sounds like a short somewhere, I think I would start with the headlight switch cause chasing wire shorts is a pita. Wish I could help you more, good luck.

    TPS, any suggestions

    I agree, NAPA would be my choice, but if your worried about quality, get the "premium" one, alot of times they sell the good stuff and a cheap shatty one like other places just to stay in competition.
