i have one and it works great. hasnt let me down yet....i wheel with full size and wrangler out in the swamps....nothing less than 37" tires.
i heard the newer ones are supposed to come with waterproof solenoids...not sure if mine has them or not...but it works great underwater too :)
i have never lived up north where it gets cold.....but in florida most people with modified(keyword here is modified) rigs will eliminate the "cooler" in the radiator and runan exterior cooler. the radiator cooler will heat up the trans fluid to normal operating temps and keep it at that...
i put a pass drop d44 under my jeep. i used a dodge np241d only thing i had to modify on the tcase was the input spline(your tranny has 23 spline, so you wont have to anything but bolt it up) because my jeep has 21 spline input. as far as the floor, i just cut out a big hole so it would fit...

I have a complete axle for sale out of my tj.It a hp d44 with all parts as follows...
d44 hp housing
reid racing knuckles
ballistic hysteer arms
new calipers...
the case i have has a fixed yoke on both ouputs. Changing the input splines is easy you just have to dismantle the entire case to do it and put it back together correctly.
the dodge 241 case will bolt right up and it has 6 planetary gears opposed to only 3 in the jeep 231 or 242 along with a wider chain. i am using one that i converted to 21 spline to use with the older aw4. so far no problems and can get them from older ram trucks or ramchargers.
Im not really too sure on what caused this to happen.
It happened, 4 Wheel Parts will not warranty the gears because "the gears didnt fail" so I have to come up with some cash to get it going again.
Ill post some pics of any progress and/or problems.
Well I have an update.
Its not a good update, but its something. I went out to the local sand dunes to cure a little bordem for the night with some friends. Everything went fine until the ride home. It felt like the jeep was chugging along and I knew something was up, so I eased it on home...

I had a similar perdicament with my front shaft. I have a LP44 with a NP241 TC and AW4. I had to use a 1330 CV at the TC side and U-joint on axle end. The TC output is at 0* and the axle yoke is at 4*. The angle of the shaft is at almost the maximum of the 1330 joint; at ride height the...
Ive welded the carrier while inside the housing and outside the housing. It works both ways just depends on how much "work" you want to do to get the job done.
I prefer to do with the carrier inside the housing and just take my time doing it opposed to pulling it out and welding it on the bench.
