    Gas Tank Skid?

I made mine out of 1/4" plate. Is it an overkill??? I think not, although it weighs 78lbs, when i slam down on rocks it rings like a church bell and reverberates in laughter. Never bent it yet. Guy

Here's the site of a local campground with lots of pics. www.oaktreesportsmenclub.com The pics don't really do the terrain justice. Guy

    4.0 or 4.2 Cam?

I defintely don't want to create problems. I was going to use the 4.2 short block and cam and use the 4.0 head and manifolds until I saw the cam specs. here http://www.angelfire.com/my/fan/Jeep4.0Camshafts.htm. Now I'm not too sure the 4.2 cam will work well. Looking at the numbers IIRC the 4.2...

    4.0 or 4.2 Cam?

I recently joined the submarine club in my '89 XJ and wasted the 4.0. I was given a 4.2 out of a carb'ed '89 YJ. It looks as if the 4.0 head, manifolds, water pump and harmonic balancer will fit it. I'm going to keep the F.I. and renix systems. My concern is the cam, I saw the cam specs. at...

    Wellsville

We go there all of the time. A bunch of us have campers there. The land is private, but the owners let folks ride there. I was told there is about 3500 acres to ride. I've been going for five years and we're still finding new trails. Everything from mild to wild. Two of the camp grounds will...

Non HO 4.0 to 4.2 Swap

Bottleworks, Idefinitly want to keep the F.I.. Will my intake or cyl. head fit the 4.2? 5-90, I sucked up alot of mud water but not enough to hydro-lock. I think thats what killed my compression. Right now I just want to get it back on the trails. Building a new motor is a winter project for...

Non HO 4.0 to 4.2 Swap

I did alot of searching but couldn't find the right answers. Everything I found was for the 4.0 HO's. I have a '89 4.0 XJ with compression of 50 psi, with oil added to the cyl. 150 psi. My nephew has a good running '89 4.2 out of a YJ that I could get for free. If so what has to be changed. If...

    A Little XJ Hold'em

Right up till then it ran great. I think if it was the rings, when I put the oil in the cylinders the compression would have jumped up...But I 'm not sure most of ya's on this board have a lot more expirence with the XJ's. Guy

    A Little XJ Hold'em

I know when I open my moter I'll be gamblin' with the results. I just thought some others may want to play. Story: '89 4.0 190k on the clock. Water hole was the infamus "damn I didn't think is was that deep". I stalled out half way through it. Winched it out. Water in the air box. Slight...

Just got back from a little wheeling

This is what I did on my '89 http://www.jeepbarracks.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=19 It works great, cost all but about $5.00. Guy

    Truss clearance

I'm currently in the process of building a 8.8 for my XJ. I was just going to weld in the axle tubes and build a seperate anti-wrap mount when I surfed and saw the trusses. The way I see it I could use the top side of the truss to mount the top of my anti-wrap bar and put the lower mount on my...

I want to build a Cage

Did I miss something or did 1990XJ4x4 say CroMo and Mig welding? The last I checked when you weld CroMo you had to pre-heat, Tig weld then post heat. If welding CroMo changed please let us know. Guy
