I second what JoeCool said about the hitch. I just purchased a Draw-Tite(recommended - it sits higher than the Hidden Hitch on my 97 Sport). It cost me $116...tow hooks for an XJ are $75 - $80. Not that much more considering the benefits of a front-mount receiver.

Hey JeepGuy: Eagle is right...I woudn't trust for it recovery. FYI - after much reading and fact-finding I have purchased a hitch for my front recovery point. I already had one on the rear. I like the hitches because they will beef up the uni-body on my 97 and give me solid points to hook too...

Shifty: I'm running a set of Walmart snows(Super Sport) that are not LT's. I do off-road stuff monthly. I haven't had a problem, but I would have went with LT's because of the thicker sidewalls. A few of the guys I wheel with have ruined a tire because of sidewall punctures. Next time I'm going...

My 97 XJ Sport stocker, with 235/75R15 snow tires, gets 14 MPG city and 17 highway. No mods yet. Just a 4.0 with AW4 trans.

I have a Magellan Sporttrak Map. It came with Mapsend Topo. It's worked like a charm...even in the woods, under tree canopy. I love the "back track" feature. Frank

The position of the license plate on the front bumper. When ever I go wet wheelin' the water pushes it up and folds it. It's kinda a joke with the guys I wheel with. They kid that the plate can be seen from the air :-) BTW mine is an 97 Sport.

My 97 has: ...gone thru 150 - 175 yard water runs(small lake) that were over the bumper and didn't sputter or conk out. ...performed like an icebreaker ship this past winter when I fell thru a deep puddle while hunting on a 5 degree day. ...tackled many a creek or small stream only to come...
