    2000 XJ longblock

I've got a seized-up 2000 XJ engine complete with intake & exhaust manifolds, coilpacks, wiring harness, and injector system. The motor has ~62Kmiles on it (I was nursing a head gasket leaK and it may of affected the bearings and seized it up). It didn't appear to throw a rod and I feel that it...

    242 TC rear seal problem

As a follow-up to my earlier report on the 242 output shaft leak.... I talked to T.W. and some bearing/seals suppliers today; they can come up with a 67mm OD metal jacketed seal (VS 65mm OD on the ones TW uses). While at CJ, I talked to an engineer from NVG and he said they (seals) are pressed...

    242 TC rear seal problem

I talked to T.W. yesterday, I'm in VA. for C.J. :wave1: . He is sending me a "spare" tailpiece too. BTW, we fixed (for 800 miles so far) the leak using new 65mm x 40mm x 8mm CR seals set in place with Permatex red Threadlocker.....high strength and good for 300*F. Put some "dimples" into the...

    242 TC rear seal problem

Thanks for the advice. I will also check the vent hose before taking off. I haven't ever had it in any deep mud (yet :laugh3: ), but you never know. Thanks, BLUTO

    242 TC rear seal problem

My rear output shaft seal on my T.W. SYE'd 242 TC finally blew-out on Friday. Been a s-l-o-w leak for last several months, then :puke: So I talk to Tom Wood and he says to use Permatex #1 on both seals (40mm x 65mm x 8mm) and let it set-up. I found a set of CR seals and proceded to R&R old...

    Magna Flow Exhaust

I also have a comparison question. I ran a FlowMaster 50 series on my 2000XJ, sold it and installed a DynoMax UltraFlow (straight thru design). It got rid of the 2000 RPM drone, but it is still a little noisier than I would like. Makes my Jeep sound like it's "having to work" at 70MPH. Probably...

    roofrack mounting hardware

I did a search for a post that I recently saw in one of the forums and couldn't find it. I'm considering the Smittybilt tubular steel "Eurorack". The ad says that it comes with hardware to mount to the OEM crossbars. I would prefer to mount to the OEM roofrack rails. The rack comes with a...

    D44 or Ford Explorer 8.8

I went with the 8.8, it was from a 1998 Exploder with 15Kmiles. It already had 4.10's, posi., and discs.....$350! ;) All I had to do was adapt the spring mounts. BTW, I run 31 x 10.5 tires on Canyon rims and they still cleared the rr springs by 1/2"+ ....WITHOUT spacers! Weld the tubes to...

    Mopar TC Skid problems..

When I bought my factory TC skid from the dealer, it came with the nutserts and a "tool" to install them. The tool swages (expands) the "nuts" into the TC crossbar and into the framerail. Just don't overtighten the bolt when installing. BLUTO
