I've got a seized-up 2000 XJ engine complete with intake & exhaust manifolds, coilpacks, wiring harness, and injector system. The motor has ~62Kmiles on it (I was nursing a head gasket leaK and it may of affected the bearings and seized it up). It didn't appear to throw a rod and I feel that it...
As a follow-up to my earlier report on the 242 output shaft leak.... I talked to T.W. and some bearing/seals suppliers today; they can come up with a 67mm OD metal jacketed seal (VS 65mm OD on the ones TW uses). While at CJ, I talked to an engineer from NVG and he said they (seals) are pressed...
I talked to T.W. yesterday, I'm in VA. for C.J. :wave1: . He is sending me a "spare" tailpiece too.
BTW, we fixed (for 800 miles so far) the leak using new 65mm x 40mm x 8mm CR seals set in place with Permatex red Threadlocker.....high strength and good for 300*F. Put some "dimples" into the...
Thanks for the advice. I will also check the vent hose before taking off. I haven't ever had it in any deep mud (yet :laugh3: ), but you never know.
Thanks,

My rear output shaft seal on my T.W. SYE'd 242 TC finally blew-out on Friday. Been a s-l-o-w leak for last several months, then :puke:
So I talk to Tom Wood and he says to use Permatex #1 on both seals (40mm x 65mm x 8mm) and let it set-up. I found a set of CR seals and proceded to R&R old...
I also have a comparison question. I ran a FlowMaster 50 series on my 2000XJ, sold it and installed a DynoMax UltraFlow (straight thru design). It got rid of the 2000 RPM drone, but it is still a little noisier than I would like. Makes my Jeep sound like it's "having to work" at 70MPH. Probably...
I did a search for a post that I recently saw in one of the forums and couldn't find it.
I'm considering the Smittybilt tubular steel "Eurorack". The ad says that it comes with hardware to mount to the OEM crossbars. I would prefer to mount to the OEM roofrack rails. The rack comes with a...
I went with the 8.8, it was from a 1998 Exploder with 15Kmiles. It already had 4.10's, posi., and discs.....$350! ;) All I had to do was adapt the spring mounts. BTW, I run 31 x 10.5 tires on Canyon rims and they still cleared the rr springs by 1/2"+ ....WITHOUT spacers!
Weld the tubes to...
When I bought my factory TC skid from the dealer, it came with the nutserts and a "tool" to install them. The tool swages (expands) the "nuts" into the TC crossbar and into the framerail. Just don't overtighten the bolt when installing.

I'm looking for a decent set of adjustable LCA's and a decent supplier to buy them from. Which manufacturer should I go with and which reseller?
Thanx,
BLUTO
I have an 8.8 on my 2000XJ w/3" OME lift. I run 31 x 10.5 x 15's on 15 x 8 Canyon rims...no rubbing whatsoever! Still have ~1/2" clearance between tire and leaf spring. NO SPACERS NEEDED!

This may or may not relate to TSB #0200303 (front end shimmy after striking pothole or bump). That was the gist of my conversation with this engineer at work. The parts guy at the dealer told me that the fix was new LCA's (he drives a 99 XJ). The engineer tells me that it is the bushings...
Are your Rusty's LCA's adjustable or non-adj.? If non-adjust., are they the same length from center/center of bolt holes?
I figured a lifted XJ is going to need it's camber adjusted to eliminate wobble going over bumps....that's why you go with longer LCA's. This guy said they used a "stiffer"...
I recently took a 2001 service bulletin number to the dealer (relating to XJ wobbling when hitting a bump). Dealer told me that it was for new LCA's....I figured longer ones. This was independant of whether you lifted your vehicle or not. Dealer told me the price was aroun $100. I figured that...
