My name "BlackRock" comes from all of the trips I make up to the Black Rock Desesrt in North West Nevada. I know all the great trails, ghost towns, smoke creek desert, etc. in the area. We find arrowheads and meteorites while hiking. Lot's of natural hot springs scattered throughout the area including "Hot River" where you can wade in a warm spring. The Black Rock desert includes the playa which is a dry lake bed where several land speed records have been broken as well as some of the highest amateur rocketry launches ever have been set. The playa is so huge you can see the curvature of the earth across it. Surrounded on all sides by huge mountain ranges. We go about 5 times every summer/fall so LMK if you want to tag along one of these times, about a 3 hour drive to Reno from the NorCal Bay Area, then another 2 hours out to Fernly and over to Gerlach, NV, we camp on the playa. :thumbup:
