    CEL 41

Well, in my case, it was simply a bad alternator. I hope this helps anyone searching in the future.

    CEL 41

Hey all, The grocery getter died on my wife last night and when I checked the CEL, it threw a 41 code. "Fault in charging system or no field current." Am I just looking at a bad alternator or something more involved? Any help will be appreciated, I [B]hate[B] electrical problems! Thanks, Bill

    Tranny Problem

Sounds exactly like a problem w/my 92 sport I had several years ago. A wise Jeep mech. told me to clean all the grounds first and then do the throttle position sensor. The grounds had little affect but the TPS took care of it right away. Replace it, I think you'll be happy with the results.

    Powertrax Prices

Has anyone tried one of the Aussie Lockers that XJCHUCK72 found. The price sure seems attractive. Any love/hate stories? Bill

    Rear Hatch Rattle

If I remember right, my fix for the back seat was a little electrical tape over the pin. It drove me nuts when we bought it used with 90K. It hasn't squeaked since (170k now). Of course for the last 6 yrs its had a car seat or two back there! Thanks for the rattle tips, I'll let you know...

    Coil spacer Dimensions

If one where to mess around and make his own coil spacers, what would the correct ID and OD be? Anyone have a pair and a tape measure lying around? Thanks, Bill

    Rear Hatch Rattle

After fixing a case of DW (Thanks Eagle) and getting a nice set of quiet KOs, the loudest noise in the Jeep is a rattle coming out of the rear hatch area. I thought there was a common problem back there, but couldn't find anything when I did a search. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Bill:confused:

    Very Noisy on Highway

Danny, My '92 has the same buzz on the drivers side. When I removed the windshield trim to paint it, I discovered one to the retaining clips was not engaging the trim piece. It is the one at where the vertical and horizontal pieces connect and I think it gets wind in there and they vibrate...

    Death Wobble.....HELP!!!!

I said I'd let you guys know what happened but its been a hectic couple of days. Eagle, I'M NOT WORTHY!!!! I never would have thought that tire balance could possibly make that much difference. The XJ went from dangerous to drive to feeling like it "just" has a tire out of balance. I must...

    Death Wobble.....HELP!!!!

Eagle, your desription of the transmision of the wobble thru the steering components makes sense. I actually watched the front tires (well at least the left front with my head out the window)shimmy left and right as if the steering wheel was being turned left /right. The only problem, I was...

    Death Wobble.....HELP!!!!

As an update, I just put a new steering stabilizer on...my problem is now MUCH worse. What in the world is going on!!!! While it was up on the rack for another tire balance I checked the ball joints and they felt nice and tight. Much head scratching is going on around here. Thanks for...

    Death Wobble.....HELP!!!!

Jeff, I looked at the the stabilizer when I did the tie rod ends yesterday. It isn't leaking oil, and when I cycled it, it still felt strong. Besides, I can't believe theres that kind of wobble built into a stock vehicle. Even if you run w/o a stabilizer, the silly thing ought to stay in its...

    Windshield Wiper ?s

Jeesh, I've been listening to that thunk for years...even put a dent in the windshield trim. It's really that easy?! No excuses now.

    Death Wobble.....HELP!!!!

I've heard the term here on the boards but now I've got my own case. My wife drives a stock '92 w/170k. Its had a bad shimmy in the front end that procrastination didn't fix. Finally I put a put a Rusty's adj. trac bar in it...no help. OK, must be tie rod ends, slightly better. How could it...
