Hi All!
I have a 90 MJ with 2.5L and a 5 speed. I paid $400 for it and drove it on the trailer. Previous owner says the truck has sat since 2016 when the radiator leaked out and overheated.
I started tearing into it today. Swapped a good radiator into it. Runs a bit rough but runs, drove it up...
When I bought mine the valve cover gasket leaked a quart a week. PO was too cheap to buy the gasket. Would rather buy 4 quarts of oil a month, 52 quarts a year. Thats like $150 a year if you buy the cheap stuff. Replaced that gasket and dropped oil loss down to less than a quart between oil...
Another vote for JKS. I am cheap, I build all of the components I can. That said, I couldn't build something as nice for the price they ask. Cheapest price I found was on Amazon. Worth every penny.
I can't tell you how many times I have referenced your site. Especially your write up for front end alignments. It is tough to convince people the caster is adjusted by shimming the LCAs. Everyone wants to replace the arms with adjustable ones so they can 'gain' the ability to adjust the...
I agree to grind the nubs off to fit the tube.
I disagree with beveling the perches. It is a fillet weld, not a butt weld. I fit steel for a living. I've never seen a print call out beveling for a fillet joint. Use a welding machine with sufficient amperage to burn in a good weld. I used...
I LOVE my JKS Quicker Disconnects. https://www.amazon.com/JKS-2000-Replacement-Swaybar-Disconnect/dp/B005TTZ64M/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1501946093&sr=1-2-fkmr0&keywords=jus+quicker+disconnect+xj
Well designed and easy to use. Have held up well so far.
Siphon the old crap out. Dump in 5 gallons of new (will dilute whatever residual is in there). Fire it up.
Just did the above with my 79 Camaro that has been sitting for a few years. Fired right up.
Why did you park it?
Do you have any supporting documentation? I am in the market for just such a thing. My 90 has the fixed wing windows, with broken AC. It is a HOT ride.
I'm happy with my drop brackets. I DD mine and do occasional off roading. Any good trails are a 5 hour drive. The beach is only 2 hours, so I do a fair amount of that.
So, you have a 92 laying around with a good radiator in it? You are short on cash for a radiator in the 99? I'm confused. Seems simple to me, if the 92 radiator will fit (I'm not sure), shove it in. If it craps out in 6 months, who cares? All it cost you was your time. In the meantime...
