1995 xj 2 door 5spd 4.0 with no roof. runs and drives great. Was originally going to pull the 5spd and part it out but I don't have time. I paid $450 for it so I'd like to get that since I never did anything with it.

I have a 94 xj that is currently an aw4 w/ 3.55 gearing. Although the aw4 has been very tough and reliable I HATE driving automatic vehicles. I have finally aquired an ax15 donor vehicle so I'm going to start the swap next week.
the donor xj does have the 3.07 gears, so it won't cost me...
I've got a set of 4 30x9.5 kuhmo road venture mt 834 mounted on the 5 spoke gray steel wheels (off 94 cherokee sport).
3 of the wheels are in very good shape and one has surface rust on the edges and the center cap is gone.
2 tires have a funny wear pattern because they weren't rotated...
where in il are you located??? and are the d30 shafts from a diso or non disco? if theye are non disco how much are they? I'd also be interested in the seatbelts too if you're close enough
the aw4 will handle the supercharger, at a minimum you should install a tranny cooler (i think this should be done to every auto tranny as cheap insurance) I believe level 10 makes upgrades for the aw4
yeah the epa does list them as the same which would make choosing the 4.0 a no brainer. I'm not sure about others here but with my 4.0 aw4 xj i average about 15 to 16 mpg w/ a modrate drining style, my 2.5 xj with 4spd man and no od is ALWAYS floored and i always average 18 mpg ?!?
if the highway is flat with no noticeable hills then its ok to put it in od as long as the motor doesn't seem to be struggling at all, If it starts downshifting at all or loses speed alot just leave it in 3rd.
every jeep i've driven w/ a 2.5 seemed almost out of balance once it gets close to redline, the 4.0 seems very smooth, the 2.5's just seem like a rougher running engine when compared to a 4.0 I guess.
