    How to turn on 4wd

I have a '91 with Select-Trac (same as you). Here's what I do: 1. 4LO Stop. Trans in neutral. Smartly pull the stick back to neutral, then in to 4LO. Trans in drive and off you go. (Dirt only!) 2. 4 Part time. On dirt only. Any speed up to 55mph. Foot off the gas. Pull stick smartly back to...

Oil on the bellhousing and tranny pan...

The local Dodge dealership did mine for $366.76 labor and parts. The good thing is I've got a 12 month / 10,000 mile warranty on the job.

    power window question

Check the ground connection for that circuit. A poor ground can make them slow. I lubricated all mine recently by using some NAPA Silicone spray. The can had one of those tubes that you stick in the nozzle. I wound the window down and stuck the nozzle in the track at the top of the door and...

    Radiator Install

If your '91 is like mine, you probably have the open system. If the old rad has a cap then it's open, and you are good to go. In any event, make sure that you bleed the air from the system as you fill it with fresh coolant. To do this, loosen the temp sender at the back right side if the rocker...

still overheating at 103 same old heating prob.

I put a new pump in on Saturday. The "R" was a tiny stamp on the impeller. Apparently, the impeller is the "official" place to put the stamp.

    Torque Converter rattle?

At idle I have a metallic rattling coming from what I guess is the torque converter housing. The rattle dissappears when I raise the revs, the vehicle is moving. I traced the noise with a length of hose as a stethiscope and it is definately coming from the front of the tranny. There looks to...

    How to turn off

Eric, I have a '91. I can assure you that there is no module under the dash to reset. The Maintenance Timer is integrated in to the computer and can only be reset with a DRBII Scan Tool. The light comes on at 85,000 miles to indicate the Oxygen Sensor needs changing. That is what happened on...

other vehicle drive on your tire

I would think that if you placed a ramp against the bigger tire, then ran up the ramp you may be high enough to be able to climb upwards rather than backwards. Just a thought........

    Dana 30 Fill plug.

Gentlemen. Thank you. I had not actually tried anything yet, just looked at it and thought - need to check on that. Much appreciated. The 3/8" socket extension sounds just like the right "widget"!:D

    Dana 30 Fill plug.

Geeze, yet another tool I don't have. Can anyone tell me the correct term (and size) for the tool to undo the front diff fill plug? I feel dumb going and asking for a "square widget thingy". TIA

    brakes binding when humid

I had exactly the same problem. Perhaps overkill but I replaced the shoes and drums. After looking at my drums - 12 years old, caked in salt induced rust I tossed 'em and bought replacements from Advanced. I did the front pads and rotors at the same time. All up just under $200 for parts. Two...

    done with ome 3" ....except

Don't pull the steering wheel off. Just below the pitman arm you will see a sleeve with two clamps bolted around it. Loosen the bolts and rotate the sleeve (wheels off the ground) until your steering wheel comes back to center. Dufus here adjusted the steering wheel and mucked up the indicator...

    Flex Fan

Those were the days....the fans were made of steel and driven by their own belt...every spark plug was accessible without standing on your head while using special tool number #$%^&*!@. No Cats, no Sensors, no computers, and 110 octane leaded fuel at 15c a liter...sigh.....
