    Death Wobble, everything is tight

I double checked all of my joints and everything is in great condition except the steering box. When you turn the wheel left and right, the sector shaft deflects side to side. Could this contribute to DW? BTW- I'm not running a steering dampener, but I might put one back on as a band aid it I...

Are you talking about the spacer? Mine is in good shape. I also have a rustys steering box brace.

    Death Wobble, everything is tight

I know another death wobble thead, I searched too, a lot. So my 98 with 2" lift on 247/70R16 tires with WJ brake/knuckle swap has developed DW. The DW just developed after I changed out my cheep poly/JJ adjustable style LCA that were shot with Savvy offroad aluminum LCA w/ JJ at both ends. I set...

It's 5.3/AW4 swap time for the road racer

Not to derail the thread, but vetteboy, do you have any more info on the Jeep/SHO project somewhere else? I have a 94 SHO and I've thought a lot about what I could swap it into. I also raced one once in a chumpcar race, awesome motor, takes tons of abuse. Unfortunately the rest of the car can...

    Shorter Steering Ratio?

Not that I know of. You can use a degree wheel to spec the ratio. Print one out off of the web and calculate the input turns to output turns. It should be approximately 12.7 to 1.

    Shorter Steering Ratio?

You can also swap in a zj steering box. It's the same ratio as the Camaro box, but has the same output sweep as the xj box. The Camaro box is less. I did this swap and love it. The swap is popular with muscle cars, but it seems very few people do it here.

Rough running only after start up

This issue went away with a little injector cleaner and a few tanks of gas, then returned again a week ago. I can here gurgling sounds coming from the gas tank after shut down. Relatively certain that it is the check valve. My question is if I should replace the pressure regulator while I'm...

    Trackbar bracket

I'd love to rent out a room as soon as I have an extra. Saving for a house right now, hopefully in a year or so. They're not cheep here. You're right about the waves here, but every dog has it's day. I've surfed in six states and three coasts and had fun everywhere.

    Trackbar bracket

Thanks, nowaves, I just wanted some confirmation before I ordered something. I have a narrow JJ, so it's just a 1.6" mounting width. It was the perfect replacement for the heim joint that came with my trackbar and lasted only a few months before developing slop. Do you have the trackbar brace...

    Trackbar bracket

I'm not worried about the drop as much as the fore-aft placement of the frame end of the trackbar, I want it behind the tie-end, so that there is no potential for it to contact on a hard bump. Drop would actually help out my geometry because I'll eventually go to cross-over steering, so my...

    Trackbar bracket

OK, so I just finished up my WJ brake swap and I'm moving on to my next step. My current set, stock steering with TNT trackbar bracket, has some clearance issues. The bracket locates the trackbar too far forward, directly over the tie-rod. I'm only at two inches of lift, and have no plans to...

    WJ steering

The brakes are a world apart from the stock ones. They were bordering on unsafe, and now, especially after bedding them in, they are impressive. Sometime down the road I might convert to crossover steering and with a new trackbar mount, but I have the 90% right now :D

    WJ steering

I read somewhere that the tie-tod mounts on the WJ knuckles are 3/4" lower than the stock xj and that a zj pitman has the corresponding amount of drop. I'm doing the wj knuckle and brake swap this weekend while maintaining the stock steering. I already have a zj pitman are in place by accident...
