rough idle after VC gasket replaced

I disconnected all of the wire harnesses (IAC, Map Sensor, etc) and reconnected. It's running fine now. I must have pulled something loose.

rough idle after VC gasket replaced

I'm working on my daughter's 01 xj, 4.0L I replaced her valve cover gasket. Now the idle is rough. If I take the hose off of the CCV valve, (the rear one on the valve cover that connects to the intake manifold) idle goes up to about 1500. If I connect the hose, the engine dies. Is this a dealer...

Do I need a new heater core?

oops, sorry to post important info. This is my daughter's 2001 Xj

Do I need a new heater core?

On the passenger side of the engine compartment is a vent that comes from the heater core. Radiator fluid leaks out of that vent. Fluid does not leak into the passenger side of the interior, only from that vent. The heater does blow semi-hot but not nearly as hot as it should. The windows...

good to be back in the XJ world, I think

good call on cleaining the engine bay. I might discover even more leaks! pretty sure the child lockout is the culprit for the other windows but not sure why that would effect the driver window not operating.

good to be back in the XJ world, I think

About 8 years or so ago, I sold my 90 xj and bought a 95 yj. My daughter cried when I sold my xj. She's 16 now and has saved enough money from summer jobs and stuff to buy her own jeep. Today, we brought home her first car, a 2001 xj Classic. It's got a couple of issues that need to be fixed...

    transfer case shifter-linkage popping out

I had the same problem on my '90 last year. There are two bolts that go from the bottom of the crossmember mount and up into the tranny. Mine kept coming loose. I finally crawled under there and put them in with loctite and they haven't backed out since and I haven't popped the linkage since...

water in crankcase, '98 Honda Civic

I had the head pressure tested when it was resurfaced. The head is not cracked and I'm no longer loosing coolant after replacing the gasket. So I think I've got that taken care of. But how in the world do I get the rest of the water out of the crankcase?

water in crankcase, '98 Honda Civic

I did a head gasket replacement on my '98 civic. I was getting water into combustion. No signs of oil in the coolant or mayonaisse looking oil. After getting everything put back together, I started it and ran it for about 20minutes. Everything seemed fine, no problems at all. I then pulled...

    Fordyce ???

just a quick update Fordyce was awesome! The trail was clear, water crossings weren't bad at all. Just a little below the top of the tires (running 35's). I'll post pics when I get a chance. I've had a crazy busy week so far, but I'll get them up soon.

    towing boats....

I used to pull my 19' malibu with my xj before I got my Expedition. That was also when my xj was still at only 3" lift and 31's. The xj has plenty of power to pull it, the issue is stopping. You need to make sure you have trailer brakes, which for a boat trailer would be hydraulic surge brakes.
