I had a situation like yours. Would run fine and then once warm, it would die and be really hard to restart. Mine was a bad dipstick ground that would get un-grounded when hot. One day, while it was idling, I just happened to move some wires on the passenger side of the engine near the...
Hurry up and get it back together! I've had the same problem for a while. Vibration at 1750. Nothing at highway speed. I had issues with trans bolts missing and the starter falling off. Then it would die when I shifted into reverse. Bad / weak CPS as the trans was twisting when I put it in...
I didn't need those caps since I've got original injectors. Now Cruiser has me worried. I swapped out several that were spitting from the body like he described. They seem fine now though. It's amazing that gas sprayed on a hot exhaust manifold evaporates instead of catching fire...
Just an update-I was able to loosen the 10mm bolt that holds the speed sensor in. I had to use a box end wrench since the head of the bolt is blocked by the sensor cable and the cover plate. I couldn't get the cover plate off as it looked too complicated to remove since it's built into the 4WD...
If you pull the fuse for the TCU (or pull the harness), it should drive like a manual. With it off-line, you'll need to start in first and then shift up but at least it will be drivable. This would also narrow down if it's TCU related or something else. The speed sensor can also go on you...
Hate to resurrect this old thread. I've got he same problem-Stalls in reverse. I am thinking that the transmission is loose and when it goes in reverse, it flexes and moves away from the CPS. There seems to be a few missing bolts and if I push up and down on the starter, there seems to be...
Did you verify that you have spark? Pull a plug, keep the plug wire on and touch the plug to ground and observe what colour spark you have. Spark + fuel usually equals run so both of those need to be checked. Do you have good pressure at the fuel rail?
Anyone done this before? I can feel it with my fingers but can't see the bolt that holds it on. Do I have to take the transfer case shifter bracket off to get at it or am I missing something. The drive shaft is in the way too but surely you don't have to take that off to get this switched...
Amen to this. Guaranteed you will break the hard line to the wheel cylinders when you do this. I just did mine a month ago. I had the proper flare nut wrench and even got the nut turning but it still broke the rusted steel lines. If you start out figuring you will break a lot of stuff and...
X2 -Have a look underneath while it's running. I pin hole size leak in a fuel line or connection can spray so fine it's hard to see but you can usually smell it and sometime feel it. The metal fuel lines often start disintegrating so look along the frame rail on the drivers side down towards...
Put a new Carter fuel pump in. The pump I removed was a Bosch but I didn't know that before I ordered the Carter. There is a slight incompatibilty with the wiring and the rubber connectors to the assembly but I was able to get it all together and working. Seems good but I haven't had time...
I'm going to look at this but I'm not sure if it would make sense since it is doing the rough running when it's sitting in my driveway. I haven't checked voltage at the connector when it's running bad but it's voltage is normal when not running. I think this will be the last thing I'll check...
Coolant gauge never seems to go much past 100. I assume that's Celsius since it has 40, 100 and 125 and it's Canadian. 100 would be 212 F. I know stock gauges aren't always accurate but it does move. I'm thinking that the fuel injectors are opening and the ECU is trying to adjust the pulse...
