Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

3 or so?

How do you know the child is a US born child, and not "spanish"? You are making an assumption that may be 100% wrong. It could be a relatives child, niece, grand-child, visiting friends daughter, from Mexico or South American or Spain for all we know.

For the record, my brother, may he rest in piece, had a triple PhD-Physics...., and an MD, and yet he also spoke 7 languages. He was an underachiever, LOL

Bi-lingual schooling is not a waste, I took 3 foreign languages in Catholic Grade school, Grade 6 and higher, and in University summer classes at an advanced AP-University program. We need multilingual people if we intend to maintain our dominance in world trade. My son did a double major in Physics and Chinese.

I never was any good at speaking foreign languages, studied 5 of them, Spanish, German, French, Russian, wish I was able to speak them, then I could folks nuts at the stores speaking Russian, LOLOL..... I did learn to read and write them, just never had the ear for them.

So I too get a little frustrated that the more common language at stores around me now is Mexican. One plant I do work at is >90 mexican/spanish that speak almost zero English, ....has been for 30 years. The work they do is too hard for white English boys, LOL.

Was at the security Federal credit union off Wandsworth and quincy Thursday and while waiting in line a lady in front of me was speaking her business to the teller in English , but when She was taking care of her child who looked about 3 or so She only spoke in Spanish ... Why do these folks only Speak English when they need things from a person that does not speak Spanish and they have no Spanish option and why do they teach their supposedly u.s citizen born children a foreign tongue as their first language . This is not a racist rant this is just my confusion with people who seem to freeload into the country and expect it to change for them . Folks like the lady at the bank are why we waste money on b.s. bilingual schooling because the child they have who should be speaking English was taught that Spanish is his native tongue ... I don't get these folks ?

She referenced the child as "my child" to the staff and was banking there...lets not assume , but let's no be silly you can usually spot a mom and their child by how they interact . I figure 3 ish as they were displaying the ways of a toddler ... you've seen kids b4 I assume ?

Learning language for ones own want is fine and has nothing to do with coming to a country and not learning and speaking the language of the country you are now living Also having foreigners come to your country and not speak your language while living in the country and expecting you to adopt their language is no reason to learn that language it's actually reason not to .

English is the international language of business , but that has little to do with the guy answering the phone at AutoZone in Spanish .

When you're not here legally your options are limited and companies take you in at a low wage .If there were less of that available illegal work force to companies and less public assistance to those who should be working then those jobs would pay better and be filled with u s. citizens .

Lol ... I still just don't get the folks who come to the u.s. only to want carry on like they still live in their home country they left .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Got sucked into leaving for salt lake on my day off only to pull over after Silverthorne as I have 1000 lbs in my trailer, low tread super singles and cables not real chains ... The co trip only showed mild conditions no chain law going west on 70 , so I left and ran the up to the tunnel and the road down into Silverthorne was interesting then pretty clear then pure shit , which the issue is no weight in the box equals no grip even with chains even less cables , so first time I have to stop I'm stuck . I pulled off at the scenic view before the 195 could barely read the snow covered signs I guess it's not for parking any who a guy cones banging on the door I guess he chains trucks for cdot and asks if I need him to chain me up or if I have no chains I tell him yes I have the equipment but it's not very effective unloaded then he tells me I need to GTFO so I tell him to GTFO he's not state patrol and I'll wait for them to tell me to GTFO and a parking ticket is cheaper than a wrecker ...lol... douchenozzle storms off and calls the police, which officer manning was very personable and pointed out 5 miles back the pull off is allowed ...lol... douchenozzle could have done the same if he wasn't looking to get paid to chain trucks , which I do myself it takes 15 minutes maybe 20 to toss 4 cables on I'd never pay a douchnozzle to do it , but I'm not putting cables on due to the empty box .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I'm thinking about picking up two used 3 inch body bow shackles as a gag to hang on my rear bumper as they look just like the small 20k lb ones on there now...lol... they weigh 67lb a piece they would cost me $150 for the pair . I would have bought them immediately had I not already been spending $16.75 a foot for a stick of dom... they are completely useless , but I think they would look pretty funny on my bumper.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

My wife and I decided last week that we will be splitting up. This leaves me with a lot of monthly expenses and now just my income so I ditched the tundra and bought an 05 4Runner., it’s like a Tacoma and a Cherokee had sex...

Dang, I'll stop feeling sorry for myself! All I need to do is find another job, and recover from this crappy virus I picked up a few weeks back.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Need to order some UHMW sheets to skin the boat sides , belly skid , and the bottom of the center uni rails . The question is what thickness is best for holding up I figure I need a thick enough sheet to counter sink the screw heads into the material , so 1/4 inch would probably be as thin as I should go . These will not be doing structural duty they...lol... have plenty of steel backing them so it's just a question of thick enough to last and thick enough to mount . I have no experience with the stuff beyond cutting food stuffs on it so I'm not sure what holds up .

I did 1/2" UHMW. I've got 1/8" dimpled backing and there has slight movement in some areas landing hard. Still wouldn't change it.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I doubt my boatsides will ever move .

The UHMW will move with variations in temperature.

My Former employer used 1/4-inch UHMW to make kick plates in some of the insulated box cars. The only way a forklift could actually damage it was to catch the end or top edge and pull it away from the wall.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Where are you guys sourcing umhw from? I still need to do this to my boat sides. Plan is 1/8 backer with 1/2 umhw too.

I got mine from Professional Plastics I think it was in Denver. I called lots of places and they were the cheapest by a good enough margin for me to drive to Denver.

I had to buy a 4x10 sheet, I think it was around $300. So it might be worth splitting with 1ton if you do.

I've still got a bit around, enough to possibly replace my boatsides, and for the DD XJ build where I plan to use it on the gas tank skid, crossmembers, etc.

I'm probably spending extra due to ordering off either eBay or Amazon they sell sheets of it from a few suppliers . For me it's convenience
since I can order it while on the road and it will just show up at the house .
