About me: Rewster for MWC Director.

my name is Andrew"REWSTER"Settle and i am running for Midwest chapter's director position in this special election.

Little about my self, i am 28yrs old. married with two kiddo's. bought my jeep back in 2008, little did i know at the time that buying it would get me wrapped up in this crazy hobby/lifestyle. I live in north west Indiana, makes it pretty easy to go down to winterfest every year. haven't missed one since signing up on the forum. before ever logging my name to the NAXJA boards i ran into a group of NAXJAers down at the badlands. they took me under their wing despite me being a complete newb. probably the funnest time wheeling to date (ran orange, open/open,30" tires). Just like my many MWC brothers i like bacon, cheese and beer.

The reason i am running is to help out the community. i am currently running the MWC's rig of the month, something the majority of the membership wanted to have. i still feel there is a lot i can give to our chapter. i actually ran for this position when it was up for elect a little over a year ago. lost to mac. which, lets be honest wasn't a big surprise :D

some of my qualifications i feel are needed for the position. my job allows me to multi task on the internet, i usually have NAXJA pulled up on a separate tab most of the day. my day to day life deals with calling people, communications with customers and vendors. and my skin is thick :D

please feel free to ask any question.

Good luck rew! Quick question. How much wood would a woodchuck Chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Thanks for running Rew.

Are you planning on attending wf 14? (i already know the answer :D )

Do you have the time to devote to planning wf, basically January through the event? Such duties would include contacting a list of sponsors for the raffle, amoungst other duties.

You have done a GREAT job with rotm, what do you think could improve this?

What are some ideas on areas of our mwc group that might need some work on or things you would like to see happen within the mwc?

be weary of any wood chuck that can chuck more than a truck load of wood. nobody wants to be friends with a greedy wood chuck.

yes i will be at WF.

I do have the time to help with WF planing. as i mentioned i work on the computer all day, so sending Emails would be no problem. also picking up the phone and talking to an actual person is the best type of communication to me,and i have no problems doing that.

thanks. heading up the ROTM thing, i went into it never doing anything like that. not that big of a deal though right, start a poll every month. playing the whole thing by ear seems to have worked out well for me. i dont see much that needs improvement. i can say that i had to re read the rules about 4 times over the year and saw a couple months that i overlooked a couple things.

Id like to see a second event in the summer. But as they say, if you build it they will come. we did that run this summer where we brought our kids out. id like to turn that into something, where everyone gets out camping with their family's. or this other run a couple years back. i think it was dubbed the newb run, it was light trails getting new people into the sport.

What are your thoughts on the club helping new commercial offroad parks within our MWC boundaries?

We are a fairly large club so if a ORV park came looking for help i think we would be a good place to spread the word and even carve new trails. i think a good majority of the members here wouldn't mind volunteering some time in doing that kind of stuff especially if they got to wheel those trail blazing days for free.

Now if by helping you are referring to donating money, i would have to see how that would benefit us all as members. maybe said park would offer discounted entry fee's for a year or so, or give back some swag to raffle off...
but just throwing money at them because they are opening a park, i don't think i could get on board with.

damn i didn't think i told you the real way. i was gonna make up another story for ya!

Do you think that the rig of the month can be made to be better? Are there things the MWC could do to make it better?

Sorry to ask another question, but the BOD board sometimes has sensitive issues discussed, can you keep these from your brother (or at least log off at work :) )

Dan asked a similar question and i was thinking about it then. i was thinking maybe having a set date to get submission started. but that would just make it harder on my self, i would have to remember to get it in by that date every month. :D i am always open to suggestions on how its run though. if anyone wants to see something happen send me a pm, i will take all criticism good or bad and any suggestions for theme's.

you're free to ask as many as you want, that's what this is here for right ;). Sam doesn't poke his nose around where it doesn't belong in general, but i can keep the under cover stuff hidden from him And even log off.

For what it is worth, Rew was recently in jury duty for 3 days. No beans were spilled on the case from him. No questions about the case were asked from me.

Also, from what I was told from someone(cannot remember who) I guess I throw up red flags sometimes because when I want to go on naxja and I am at his computer, I log him off and log myself on.

Thanks for the reply and running.

For the record, I use a separate google calendar to manage all the NAXJA stuff I do, complete with reminders via email and texts to remind me when to do everything I do at the chapter and national level, just a thought.

All the mods know that you guys work at the same place because of the logging on and off :)
