Weekend is over...what did you get done?

The rims gave it away!

Been about a week and a half now since I got the project done, but I got the hood vents installed. Found a set of LeBaron vents. Took it out on one major drive so far - about 60 miles each way to Ed's place. Not one time did my temp gauge hit 210. I haven't put an IR thermometer on it yet, but after shutting the truck off, the hood stays tolerable to the touch, while the air coming out of the vent is pretty hot. I'm quite pleased with the outcome, and the few that have seen the Jeep with them on said that it looks pretty good also.

I started by taping off the area, then using cardboard templates to transfer the cut lines onto the painters tape. Went in 5 inches from the top line and one inch from the center crease line. Used a jigsaw with a metal blade to do the cutting. If I had it to do over, I would have cut the template on the outside of the line. I was worried about cutting it too big, but turns out that cutting too small was as big an issue because trimming the hole to fit was problematic with a jigsaw.

What were your temps before with the ac running?

Just up over 210 without air. I've only had AC on this truck for about 2 months, and only used it twice. I didn't have the AC on when I ran to Ed's on the first trip out.

My blue jeep runs awesome with the ac on on a summer day. Maggie's 2 door will creep above 210 with the ac running. But I've been fighting cooling issues for a long time with her jeep. It needs freeze plugs. I replaced hers once but they are seeping again.

The green jeep will heat up fast cruising on the trails even with both fans running (aftermarket electric replaced the mechanical) and no ac. Thinking vents may help solve my issue.

I can also vouch for the TPS not liking being under the open vents. Im on my third TPS now, and also keep a spare (that didnt fit in Aarons Jeep)

That's what I get for having an Evil 97.....

nice score KP! I'm sure it will turn out killer!

I finally made it out to The Wishbone Ranch today, after about a year of living within 15 minutes of the park. It turned out to be one of the best parks I've been to, and I represented the XJ side of the hobby rather nicely, i think, going places with ease that a 2012 rubicon unlimited with a small lift had some serious problems with. I am still running my 31" all-terrains as well.
I had a blast, but I concur with everyone I've talked to that this place would be a nightmare when wet. Being dry, I went anywhere i wanted to, and my buddy's stock nissan hardbody pickup was able to at least do the main trails and the bypasses, and had a good time. Not many pics or videos were taken, because we were mostly busy trying to spot the JK and move rocks for him to climb up. :moon:

now for the pics (that i have of my jeep, anyway. there are more that i'll get when i can.)

I think Bowling green is just a little over 2 hours from me, I may have to shoot down there when its dry!

Well, I didn't do much of anything Jeep related this weekend.

Worked late Friday, worked Saturday morning, went to an Airshow around 2pm with my family and then hung around the house Sunday until Glenn showed up with Glenn and Ben to get my trailer so he can drag the big white turd to Kentucky. :)

Saw Monster University, took down Jack's crib and replaced it with a twin bed, watched the Lorax, went to a cookout, watched The Great and Powerful Oz, went swimming, mowed the yard, and watched End Of Watch.

Should have done a tune up and toe alignment on my XJ.

Thanks again... Went to Aiken and meet Ironman Andy and some of his friends and family there for the weekend. We shot so much I think my cousins thought there was a war going on. LOL! Went to dinner Saturday night at Aiken Brewing Company. If you ever get near Aiken, SC go there. Well worth the trip imho. Played some pool on dads pool table after we got home Saturday evening. Later that night we all went out and play hide and seek with my dads golf cart and flashlights. That was a fun adventure. Roaming through the woods at 11 - 12 for a couple hours taking turns looking for each other. Nice. Kids still have imagination. Sunday I went to go see Andy after cleaning the house. Got a late start and did not get to Abbyville till later then planned. Walked in a April shoves that cute little bundle of joy in my arms... Hung out way longer then I should have but enjoyed the visit my friend! Got hom about 11. Rebecca the future x was raising hell the whole way back via text and FB apparently. Anywho I had a great weekend with some great friends and two awesome teenage boys! Cannot wait to get the bar done and get this "big white turd" to Kentucky!

Come down this weekend, Flex. We are running it on the 29th. Bosco started a thread about it. My map app shows about 2 hours 45 hours for you. See you there around 8:30-8:45 CT?
