Need Fender Flares CHP Mad

The split speed limits have been proven to improve safety. The last I heard Ohio was removing there's and Cali had given up federal aid for roads because of theirs.

Man, I'm with ya on the "as long as we can do the speed limit" argument. The problem is all the knuckleheads that can't run that fast. Swift, Werner etc etc...
My Pete had a 550, 13 spd with 3.55's. I could maintain any speed I liked. But still I had to obey the law because of the knuckle heads...

nothing worse than some douchebag who can't use the gas pedal a little when merging onto a busy highway. i dont pull in front of anyone if i'm not going as fast or faster than they are, or intend to be before they have to react. i feel for you truck drivers that have to deal with that on a regular basis.

Yea that shit pisses me off, almost as much as ppl pulling across from the far lane to get off an exit and cut a trucker off. really? people have no XXXXing sense

Deal with it everyday 20 30 times a day. Especially the car that's cruising next to you on your left near or behind your 1/2 way point. They decide to get off at the last minute but no instead of slowing and merging rt. they speed up cut us off and slammmmmm on the breaks to make the exit before the Ice Plant.

I'm a trucker too. 2,000,000 plus miles and I've been a training manager and safety manager and a fleet manager... You get the point.

I have to go with the line of thought that there wouldn't be a law if there wasn't a need. Whether it's a big rig climbing a hill in the far left lane at 20 mph below the speed limit or a Subaru pulling a Uhaul at 30 mph below the limit in the left lane they have no business there and are a safety hazzard.

If people used good common sense when driving instead of relying on a sense of entitlement we wouldn't need these laws.

I drive like I have some sense and obey the law. I have been pulled over once in the past 20 years. That's driving trucks, jacked up Jeeps, slammed hot rodded Chevy's you name it.

Not busting your balls man but seriously, it's not the cops fault you were in the wrong lane and you're lucky he didn't have a ticket writing party in your honor. Get some flares, fix that front plate and stay out of that lane with a trailer.

I wasnt saying anything bad about the officer I have always wanted to be one of them. The officer saw me change lanes into the third lane from lane 2 of 4. I did this because the vehicle that was in front of me was doing 45mph and It was unsafe to pass in a merging lane #1 of 4. I simply said that I would like to fix my flares and everything else because I dont want to get pulled over for that. Lets put it this way the guy doing 45mph was breaking the law the vehicles in the fast lane were doing 75mph plus everyone was breaking the law he just chose me. I need some flares and would like some input on flares and wanted to tell my story.

Where at in Cali are you? I have a set for an 89 and a set for a 2000, the 2000 is dark blue and 89's are custom faded grey :)... I'm in Bakersfield if your near by, donations are welcome but if you come get them they are yours...

I am in Roseville but I need extended flares.

You might have to go glass. I'm a big fan of the Hanneman 6" flat tops.

You sound like a card carrying member of the ATA ;)

The safety of split speed limits are split. Yes, they cut down on drivers getting hurt or killed. Obviously if you go slower you are safer but....those studies do not take into account the safety of other vehicles around slow trucks. There are other studies that show higher rates of trucks getting rear ended by faster moving trucks and wrecks where slow moving trucks cut off faster moving vehichles to make lane changes (Lindsey Lohan?)

I Canada judge just ruled that the law they have where any truck newer than 1995 must be limited to 105 kph is unsafe for this same reason.

If they want to slow trucks to 65 or even 55 then they should slow everyone down. If we are all flowing together, that's the safest bet for everyone.

I still think stricter laws on vehicles impeding traffic is the best way to go. Let trucks run in the left lanes but if they are holding people up, write them a ticket. This should go for cars too. We have all been pissed off by grandma in her 89 Buick doing 54 in the left lane. She deserves a ticket as much as a truck slowing people down.

Just thought I'd offer, I did see someone use the garden border stuff for fender flares it's a cheap quick fix. It's like a flexible border to seperate the lawn from the flower garden. Didn't look to bad actually.

I appreciate it. At the moment I am debating on what to do. I like Bushwakers and Fiberglass fenders. Fiber glass is expensive do to the paint match needed. I can also fab some tube fenders but dont have much time to do that. I have never been a fan of adding weight to the XJ so I need something light weight, strong and good looking.

Most states have laws requiring slow vehichles to move out of the way if they are impeding traffic.

If I am doing 70 in a 70 mph zone and I am not holding anyone up why should I be restricted to the slow lanes? I think its far more dangerous to have me slowing down or constantly moving over one lane to let the retards get on the freeway who don't know how to merge at fwy speeds. If I could travel with the flow of traffic and I'm not riding anyone's ass to do it, where is the harm?

Of course I realize in California you also have the retarded speed limit of 55 for anyone pulling a trailer. A law btw that a canada judge has just ruled to be unsafe. If anyone pulling a trailer at the posted speed limit is actually obeying the law they are pretty much impeding traffic no matter what lane they are in.

If you are doing 70 in a 70 mph zone then you are holding everyone up if you are in the fast lane. Right lane is for retards, middle for people going the speed limit and the left lane is for speeders. We don't have many two lane highways around here and the ones that are are either in the mountians or empty enough where riding in the right lane isn't going to be a big hassle with mergers.

Here's a recent shot of my rig with BW Flatties, which I had painted to match.

I'm running 285/75/16's with 1.25" billet wheel adapters (spacers) and 6" lift. They cover the tire.

The fast lane is a myth. The far left is the passing lane, no lane is a speed limit free zone.

^Thank you! I hate when people miscorrectly call the left PASSING lane a fastlane. It doesn't matter how fast you want to go, you pass and then you move back to the right. You don't just cruise in the passing lane and force people to pass you on the right.

it's widely accepted as the fast lane. if someone is doing 70 in the left lane with noone in front of them for a fair distance and there's cars behind them wanting to go faster, that person needs to get out of the way. unless you have a badge, you have no business regulating traffic.
