XJ-5 Grille Build

Wow. Very nice build!! I usually don't like the round conversions like this, but this one is by far my favorite! This is how they should all be done, not just making it work, but making it look like its supposed to be there. Right on man. Keep it up, your so close! can't wait to see it on!

Shame to have lost the signals though... How about round ones on the bumper just below the headlights? move them in more toward center kinda like the CJs... just a thought. Im sure if you thought about it for a bit, you could come up with a cleaver design! Best of luck, and looking forward to seeing the finished XJ!

Thanks guys! I was thinking about doing marker lights in the ends of the bumper, so i guess they could work up front. The only thing that worries me is the angle in the bumper and the the big "drove through an exploder" dent in it. I think that would make it sit awkward. :confused1

I didnt do anything exciting today. glassed some bolts in so i can mount it and started thinking about the logo. came up with an idea in which i would cut out the jeep logo and use it as running lights and supplemental turn signals. all four letters lit when the headlights are on, The J and E would flash for a right and the E and P for a left. I was looking into it and it seems like i might have to trim the piece the hood latches too but it wont be too bad:

I have 4" driving lights fitted in the bumper... you should have no problem fitting a 2" blinker light:

Just a thought.

I like your Jeep emblem idea, but what are your road laws? In PA, I have had DOT signals fail inspection... AZ I hope is different for ya!

I would be looking for some small trailer lights. These would be my 3 suggestions as to where to place them.

The drivers side light is where they were originally gonna go. I guess if i could find an inch and a quarter or something small i can squeeze it in there. I still think i like the ones built into the headlights. :dunno:

I've got plenty of time to think about it.

Damn, that is some real nice work!

I would never put that kind of work into something I'd bounce off trees... maybe a daily driver, but I just don't have the patience.

OOOOHHH !!! No.... you've got to put the damn thing on so we can get the finished product impression...

Well done... PM & we can work out a price :D

Can you get some round lights to match the width of the grille slots? Simplify mounting, and easily worked into the insert material, I would think. It's some nice work, regardless. Paint it and put it on.

I know it sucks, but Gimp isn't exactly intuitive when you're drinking. Anyway, something liek this, except with the lens portion of the lights matching the slots. It's your Jeep, so do whatever. I've tossed two header panels in the last year. Kicking myself now that I've played with fiberglass a bit.
