I've been driving it around a bit and the only thing I notice is a weird burning smell when I'm sitting at stop lights. The truck isn't running hot or anything - its more of an electric related melting smell.

I figure I'll just put a bottle of water in the glove box and not worry about it.

oh maybe Ill get to use the mini fire extinguisher I bought last year!

my main (only) thing left that I'm shooting for... take t-case out, put t-case in. :)

What are you gonna do about the unibody cracks?

Also, after trying and failing to put out a brush fire I found with a mini extinguisher... Guys, don't bother with those. Get the full size kitchen one so your attempts make more of a difference than a fart in a hurricane. If my engine bay was on fire I would have been all kinds of screwed.

look at them once in awhile? :dunno:

It'll get taken care of eventually. Last weekend I went wheeling, it didn't get any worse. I'm not doing any more wheeling before NACfest, so as far as I'm concerned it's not a major concern.

You shouldn't have to use it afterall. I found some wires going into the fuse panel under the dash that were all melting together. I wasn't sure what they do, so I just unplugged them from the fuse panel and wrapped the ends in scotch tape. It still starts so I'm good to go - and no more burning smell.

Nah .... I was just fool'n.

The smell was coming from the new muffler - there was still a little of the plastic wrapping stuck in some hard to reach places. It should burn off pretty soon.

Honestly, the Jeep is in the best shape its ever been in. New engine is running great .... suspension is all tuned and ready .... tires and wheels are balanced properly .... everything should be good to go!!!!

I'm hoping for three trouble-free days of wheeling at NACFest.

LOL... (reading between the lines)
In other words, it wasn't the melted wires, the truck wouldn't start, NOTHING worked.... so he had to put them back in using wire nuts...

:yelclap::jester:

XJ
- weld in stock gas skid
- JB weld fuel pump return line nipple to face plate
- grind out spare shafts for full circle snap rings and put in some fresh x760s
- double check all fluids
- maybe clean it?

CTD
- bolt in 98-99 HD style steering
- oil change/rotate tires
- possibly rolling/locking tonneau cover?

So I think the biggest thing I gotta get done now is to make up some nut strips and unibody tie-ins for the rear bumper and trim down/install the front bumper bracket things. Otherwise the gear break-in is going pretty well and all should be good (I hope).

Oh and I also need to get a carpet installed up front to kill some of the heat from the trans tunnel, etc. No way in hell I want to deal with a 6+ hour drive without it. :laugh3: Would be different if I had AC to combat the heat but I may or may not have killed my AC with a drill while installing my swaybar disconnect straps years back

Oh and a radio would be nice too. Hopefully stopping by the JY tomorrow and going to see what head units they have pulled and such. Found a couple on CL for $50 that I might buy if the JY doesn't have anything for me. So tomorrow might be carpet/radio/headliner/etc day. And an alignment. The right hand pull is starting to get old fast.

Maybe give JCR a call and see if they can get you shipped out some tie-ins asap if someone can't make them for you? Just throwin that out there.

Now that NACfest is only 10 days away, it is time to post up my to do list:

Jeep:
1. Finish up and paint 3-link set-up
2. Longer brake lines
3. Reinstall seats
4. Install center limiting strap (waiting for it to come, it will be here on friday)
5. Paint new Rockers
6. Give the rig a bath to get all the grinder dust off

Tow Rig:
1. Alignment
2. Rotate Tires

Crap... added to my list yesterday.

* 4WD swap (haha, right, only if I manage to rent a garage somewhere)
* find out how I lost 1-2 pints of brake fluid over the last week, fix it. I think it's a flare on the top of the prop valve but I'm not sure.
* figure out why exactly my power steering pump started whining loudly after I ran St Anthony Street and Swan Ave last night (laugh all you want, after the last few thunderstorms we've had, they're green trails!) and maybe convince myself to care enough to fix it

its not a JCR bumper, i already contacted them and they said it wouldnt work, but i think i would be able to modify them

The swamp ass meter was at its most highest levels here over the weekend. I was working out in front of my house & had to take numerous breaks, so I did not turn into liquid. Jeep is just about ready, just need to change the oil & re-check everything next weekend.
