weld d35 diff on 32's ??

So, how do you guys really feel about welding a D35? Come on guys, get off the fence and share your real opinions! ;)

English is my second language. Please excuse my poor grammar, trust me I am workin on that issues at my college right now LOL

"locker provide tractions" I meant by that the locker help with the tractions by that they transfer the power to all of the wheels regardless of the tractions so the power always will be applied to the one that have the most tractions, while the open differentials always look for a least traction to transfer the power to.

I again say do it! especially cause you have that spare 35.

but that picture of the welded gears is one of the funniest things I have ever seen on this site!

I think that has been covered. :twak:

definately,

for a DD, probably not, because of the high traction from the pavement

for a trailer queen/ trail rig, not recommended by this site, risk on your own

dude, weld that bitch up! i've wheeled one before, and it did help. just don't weld the front. that really sucks. take spares with ya, and don't expect your buddies to wait while you fix it. keep tools with ya, and have fun. you might or might not break it. i never have broken a dana 35. again, DON'T expect your friends to fix it, or even wait while you do. tell 'em you'll catch up later. weld it up, and hit the trails! if you drive it on the road, air your tires up to 40 psi to cut down on resistance. do it up, homie.
btw, your accent is cool when typed out. i just figured you talk like all the other guys i know from chicago....:D

The only real problem I see with how you type is plurals - you use them where you shouldn't. I can't quite explain English rules on that, it just "looks wrong" sometimes, but it should be "locker provides traction" and "I meant by that the locker helps with traction by transferring the power to all of the wheels regardless of which has more traction, so power will always be applied to the one with the most traction." That's about as correct as I can make it without reading over it again; I see this a lot in some of my co-worker's writing as they are native Cantonese speakers and the rules are different. Like I said though, I give you guys a free pass on stuff like that because your English is a lot better than my Chinese/French/Spanish/whatever else.

You might have to leave the mall parking lot before it'll break. Or not, cal said early in this thread that he blew up a dana 35 doing a U-turn on 32s, I don't think he even had it locked.

Actually I wasn't calling him a failure.. i posted that picture to describe the fact that you will explode that axle like dropping a bomb off a ledge if you lock it, weld it or even drive it lol

Come on now man. Exploding a D35 just by driving it? Have you ever broken a D35? I'm just curious. How many people who make these claims have actually broken a D35 or seen one brake? Every thread like this is the same. Chunk the axle, it'll explode!!!

I've driven on my 35 for over a year running 33s and the only problem I've had is a whiny pinion.

You're lucky you haven't broken it......yet.

Has Been Welded since I bought it 5 Months ago and works fine. And I wheel it hard. Its free why not and D35s are cheap. Its getting me bye untell my 9" is done and my 44 is done~ And im on 35s and thats a no no also on the axles but it works for me~ Untell I move up to bigger axles, If you have a lead foot your gonna brake it.

Had a D35 in my YJ. Blew it with 30s on a mild trail. Sold the YJ in pieces. got 5$ from the scrap yard for the D35

what owned? :dunno:

if it broke from that such of a U-turn, id say there's something wrong with the axle before he even made with the U-turn before it became obviously.:fuse:

i will have a video up shortly of me tugging a 5000lb  Land Rover Discovery up a rutted hill (his axles dragged on the ruts BAD). i was excepting at least some broken axle shafts, but nope! WOT in 4L and didnt move then had head starts for about 20 times at WOT all the way, it held and eventually the Discovery finally started to go up the hill with me, its very effectively an jeep anchor LOL . !!!1

lastly i am not saying the D35's unbreakable, it can hold some abuses. i am sure i weakened it a bit too :dunce:

I have not broken a D35, but I never wheeled my XJ with the D35 still in it.

I do make a good living from people who do push there D35s to its limits and it happens quite often. With that said please to continue to beat, weld and put too of big tires on a D35 cause your helping me and people like me make a living as well as helping the economy.
