It might work great, however, from the looks, it just seems really funky....

It doesn't make sense to me to go "over the knuckle" if you're gonna run the drag link under the knuckle anyway. I understand the reasoning - to keep your angles in check - and to make it true bolt on....just seems like you'd have some draglink/tie rod contact in there. I personally don't like the RK steering setup either..or ORO U-turn or whatever it's called...I think WJ steering is the way to go. Free brake upgrade in the process.

Having never seen either in person:
I like the rock krawler setup better. The tierod is the goofy bent piece, not the draglink. That helps it to clear the diff and the axle-end swaybar mounts. They seem pretty much the same otherwise.

In both setups, the tie rod is bent to avoid diff contact. I was referring to the really funky draglink bends though.

how come everyone hates rugged ridge steering setup? ive got mine installed on my xj, but havent gotten it on the road yet.....whats the problems people see with their RR steering?

I think the RR is only good up to 5" lift. I put the IRO kit w/the 5/8 upgrade on my XJ w/8" lift and it works great. "MUCH" better than stock and it took about 10 seconds each to drill out the knuckles and pitman arm with a reamer. The whole switch took less than 30 minutes. ( on our hoist )

Ashylarry could you get pics of it from each side at full lock?

Dead spots due to tie rod roll and no readily available replacement parts.

exactly, Its a super strong setup, but it has horrible dead spots from brand new, that only get worse. im tired of steering my jeep like its some kind of 1940s big rig. when i turn the wheel either direction, i would like the tires to turn too!

and the tre's are extremely hard to replace because you HAVE to buy them threw Rugged ridge and its like $20 more just to replace the whole kit with a brand new RR kit!

AGREED!!!! I had a guy at advance do a TON of measuring and the closest think was right hand thread. Even with the JCR bushing that helps the steering roll it still sucks

If you dont believe me PM me and Ill see you mine and let you learn the hard way :D

Well I have absolutely had it with the rugged ridge, even after replacing all the tie rod ends, links, adding a stabilizer, and poly spacers. The system works well offroad, is beefy and strong but dead spot is over the top too me. I just ordered the Iron rock Kit with upgraded 5/8" . I hope this is the end of my steering saga. I'd like to put more money into other areas of the jeep. It was $500 shipped with taxes to Canada
