Offical Nominations for BoD

Ok lets try this again.
And post ONLY your nominations, accept/decline nominations and motions to pass the nomination. Remember ONLY paid NAXJA RRC Members are able to vote. You must be an active paid member in good standing for a min. of 1 (one) year to be nominated for a position on the BoD. Polls will appear in the "Members Only" Forum.

Thank you.

I nominate Kurt (xxmidianxx) for president of the RRC for all of the hard work he is putting towards planning of ROM.

I accept the nomination.

And I nominate you to take my place as Vice President.

Teach me what? That when there are elections for officers that sometimes there is actually more than one candidate in the running? I like Jay, he is a good guy, always willing to help out a fellow jeeper, and I think if I have to run against someone at least it is someone of his caliber.

P.S. just for that I renominate you for Treasurer/Secretary!

No, silly. That'll teach Jay to second my nomination! He needs to be PUNISHED for that.

Oh ok.... I was a bit confused. How about this.... I nominate Jay for Treasurer/Secretary! (Kendrik here is your chance)

Perhaps it might help if people knew what each office was responsible for, the deadline for nominations, the deadline for voting, etc.

I am also curious as to the direction that each of the nominees would like to see RRC go and how they plan to accomplish this.

I know that xxmidianxx has done a lot of wrenching parties, almost all the work on next years RoM, tells others with "lifted XJ's" about NAXJA, and helped others prep their rigs for offroad use.

These are all good things mind you, but the problem, as I have always seen it, is that not everyone is a crawler and the direction that RRC focuses on is driving over crap. Not everyone with an XJ is about that, and the said focus ignores that entire aspect. Even those that ultimately want to drive over crap, but still have stock XJ's can feel left out because when we do get together to go and play, there is no way for them to tag along (except ride with others and watch). Some people find that very boring.

I would like to add, that when my XJ was still stock, a large group (much to my surprise) stopped running harder trails and drove trails that they thought I could make it through.

Just some food for thought.

A lot of you know who I am, there are a lot of new faces here who do not. I have been nominated to run for VP, and I am looking forward to the chance to have some bearing on the direction that the Red River Chapter takes over the next short while.

I personally would like the chapter become more organized and focused as a club. I would like to institute a (somewhat) organized effort to recruit new members to NAXJA (and more specifically the RRC). This recruitment I would like to institute, or at least initialize, would include actively recruiting any and all XJ enthusiasts. Whether they wheel their rigs, DD them and just need a place to get info or tech, lower them, hot rod them, or whatever. I think the chapter already does a great job of making all fellow Jeepers feel welcome, and I would hope that trend would continue here. I already have some good ideas, and will be brainstorming for more ways to actively recruit for our chapter (we have gotten several new forum users this past week, and hopefully they will stick around and join with proper encouragement). I would also like to see more organized events (don’t necessarily have to be huge like the ROM), meet and greets (locally as much as possible), and I think we should start considering and planning for fundraisers for the chapter as well. I have several fundraising campaigns in mind that I will bring to light when the time comes, but I think that to achieve our goals (recruitment wise, event wise, and etc) we must have some money in the bank. It would be extremely hard to get any of these things rolling without some working capital. I have been working to become more and more active with the RRC over the last year, and I am committed to being a good leader, and will work hard to do what is right for the RRC.

I would also like to add that Kurt, Chris, and JR have done a great job as our officers during their tenure. Last year's ROM was great, everyone had a blast, even though it was rainy the whole time. I know Chris and Kurt especially put a lot of time and effort into last year’s ROM, and I know for a fact that Kurt is putting 100% into this coming ROM. I just hope that I can serve our chapter as an officer, and I promise I will do my best not to disappoint.

Well since the first post I put up has no meaning anymore, I will respond to this in this thread. Although I made a tread just for these topics.

OK MM, you know as well as I do thats this has been covered time and time again. I HAVE tried to talk to people about joining NAXJA that have non-modified and 2WD XJs... not too many MJs in this area. But like I have said before they are ALOT less intrested in joining NAXJA than the modified poeple are. Over the past year I have talked atleast 20 people with (stock and modified) XJs.... Gave them cards and all. Not one of them have joined... NOT ONE! Well atleast that I have seen. I have even gone to the point of when I am driving down the highway and see another XJ, I will try and get infront of the and drive there for atleast a mile or so... just so they can see my NAXJA window banner but at the same time I am thinking, "Do they even know what an XJ is?" Honestly I would like to get the members (paid and non paid) that we already have to become more active in their chapter.

As for including the stockers in our events, thats why I added the Blind Man's Course to this coming RoM. I am hoping that will help out some.

But I too would love to see this chapter grow and become more organized. The key, from what I have found, to have that happen is a more involved BoD. I am not saying that the current BoD is not active but I know first hand that JR and Chris have been really busy with other things in their lives. You all have to remember, this is all volunteer work. We do this then we can. Thats why I am more active than other BoD members, I have a job that some times I get ALOT of down time and I have access to the net. Thats also another reason why JR wants to step down and have me a President. I seem to have the time and effort to move this chapter forward and that was my goal from the begining.

I too have been putting tons of cards out on XJ's everywhere. I have yet to get a single member to sign up using this practice, even though at least 20 of those were lifted rigs. However, even if all we get is 1 or 2 good members out of this practice it is still worth the small amount of my time it takes to put the cards out.

Here is what my card says:

I like your Cherokee. If you are interested in Jeeps, are interested in offroading, or otherwise modifying your jeep, you should check out the North American XJ Association @ www.NAXJA.org. We have a local chapter (Red River Chapter) and we have events regularly for everything from Jeep experts to those who are totally new to Jeepin’! You can also meet fellow jeepers, and find a wealth of information on our Forum as well. Hope to see you there soon!.

It actually has some graphic work on it too so it doesn't look so plain.

So far I have had good luck inviting XJ'ers from other clubs and forums that I am a member of to come check it out. Several of them have come over and started visiting here in the last couple weeks (ie: JeepNube, Lil Red Wagon, Brandyn24 I know some were already members, but they actually came back and posted here. LOL). I am still encouraging XJ'ers from other sites to come join up everyday.

It's going to take a lot of work to get the chapter really rolling towards those goals I mentioned, but it will be worth it in the long run. I know I am willing to put in the effort, and from what I have seen Kurt obviously is as well. It is going to take an extremely committed and active BoD to get anywhere.

Well, personally, I'd dismiss any card that was placed on my vehicle as an advertisement.

I really do like the idea about charity work though. Being seen is the best advertising IMHO.

OK, I'll let you guys go back to selecting the next BoD now. :)

I think the problem about promoting NAXJA is that sometimes, people (even in modded XJ's) don't even know what the hell an XJ is, let alone know that they own one.

Another problem is that alot of those same people who wheel, or mod their vehicles may not even have internet access. We can't assume that everyone has the same internet addiction that we do.

However, through things like windshield banners on our rigs, cards to put on windshields, promoting NAXJA on other forums where XJers exist (this is easiest to do when we are having runs since technically we are promoting our run... its harder to just promote another forum on a forum without stepping on toes), these things can and will work. I am working on other plans right now as well.
