I would love to see a 300 in an xj... backed by a np435 with a 6.68 1st gear..... np 205 twin sticked with 4 to 1.... that would be some serious crawl.... the granny gear would do away with the need of a doubler as well....
I love the 435 in my old dodge! Ford used the same one for a few years.

Sheet metal work to me is a sledge hammer.
A 300 in xj is one of those things that might go smooth or it might turn into a month of living in hell .
4.0s are a dime a dozen its pretty easy to just keep one under the hood.
There are ways to go slower with about 1000 bucks spent
That may be worth not having to go through a living hell.

Gordo you're absolutely right. It's just a "neat" thing to fathom...
I did not realize the 300 was shorter than the 4.0 though. That's shocking

Thats how missinformation on the wild Web starts.
Ill measure and compare when I have the 300 435 205vcombo bolted together.
The block Box is 8" might make length peeeerfect
I did read slightly on the 300 tcase when researching 231doubler stuff
