Front Axle Lube
93 Jeep Cherokee Country
I recently noticed that the white plastic cap on the end of my axle tube is missing and fluid seems be draining from both ends of the axle tube. Also occasionally while turning i can hear what sounds like teeth on the front gears rubbing the wrong way. Whats up with this. What should i do with it? Am i going to have to disassemble the axle? Thanks

Well the plastic shields are just for debri so if you have oil coming out your inner seals are failing.As far as the noise it could be a couple things like U-joints,ball joints, or unit bearings!

how much trouble is it to replace the inner seals. and how difficult to replace what fluid has leaked out?~ does the spindle and axle have to come out to replace that plastic shield?
