Fuel Filter Location?

I've searched, yes, but to no avail...

2000 Classic, where in the heck is the fuel filter? I'd like to replace all the things that need replacing, but I can't seem to locate this sucker! :dunno:

try under the wheel well rear drivers. thats where mine was but mines a 90 renix.

your fuel filter is inside the gas tank.

Great. Well since this is the case, does it really need periodic replacing??

no, it doesn't. Replace it if/when the pump goes.

There is also a fuel filter inside your fuel pressure regulator located on top of your gas tank .

You'll know when it is time to replace the filter in the tank. When you get under 1/4 a tank of gas and the XJ quits on you when going around corners or stutters when you know there is still gas in the tank - time to replace the filter. In my case it was around 120k miles.
