thats a pretty good indication if you ask me....Sometimes it can take 10-15 minutes of driving to open the thermo. Are you over heating???

I just replaced my tstat and water pump and she wasn't cooling down and the upper rad hose was cold.
So I took her for a drive and all is well now. No more overheating. werd.

Open or closed system? If open, probably ok, if closed system it requires burping.

Turns out one of the hoses wasn't clamped down properly so the system wasn't holding pressure .. in turn, making it heat up.
Got it fixed though.
