I have a horribe pinched nerve in my shoulder from 2 XJ roll overs/ accidents and working in a machine shop using them 8-10hour days and not including school doesnt exactly help.

I know some of you have the secret to make it stop. The internet tells me aleve and that stuff hehehe.....not, maybe if I took the whole bottle.

Whats the suggestion?

A chiropractor or massage therapy - depending on how the nerve is impinged. If it's jammed in bone, go see a D.C. If it's impinged by "soft tissue" (read: muscle,) get massage therapy.

A chiropractor's office should be able to help you either way - good ones carry massage therapists on staff, and they also have equipment to work more deeply in the body. Which nerve is impinged? Symptoms?

I've been through a few of these, and some deep muscle spasms as well. The worst of these was extensive spasming of the iliopsoas muscles, which work as the "guy lines" balancing the erectors. Went on for years - probably started when I'd torn my erectors seven years previously. Therapy hurt like a bastid, but it was worth it when it was over!

Many times what people call a pinched nerve in the shoulder actually is a referred pain due to a herniated disc in the neck. Get to a good ortho doc and have it at a minimum xrayed and better yet MRI'd. I have four vertebrae fused in my neck due to racing motorcycles and they all felt like a pinched nerve in my shoulder. Take it serious or you can end up with handicapped license plates like me.

Dont know which nerve, but its directly in the middle of my shoulder blade and I get this tensing there off and on during the day. Its lasts for a little while and goes away only to come back again if I move the shoulder just right and aggravate it and other times when driving or relaxing it comes with no provoction.
Sounds like I need go back to doctor, first stop tomorrow than :soapbox:

A couple years ago I had some neck/shoulder issues also.

After a YEAR of doctors, specialists, therapists, chiro's, sports medicine doc's...
Two set's of Xrays, MRI, Nerve Conduction Velocity tests, poking and prodding...

FINALLY their expert opinion was to fuse my neck vert's together.

I tried a Chinese doctor at a friends advice and was 95% healed in three visits and haven't had an issue since. He used accupunture, and muscle manipulation (which hurts like hell!)

My advice is to try a few different things before settling on one course of treatment that may or may not work, but cost you a fortune and alot of time in pain.
